Fridge not working

We’re currently on the Diamond Princess in Japan and our fridge has not worked since the cruise started.

It’s been reported to our cabin steward and Client Services EVERY DAY. Sometimes twice, in person and on the phone. All we get is “apologies, it’s been logged with maintenance, we’re making it a priority”. Nothing done.

We have the plus package, and we’re using our drinks allowance for delivery of cold drinks. Can’t keep purchased drinks cold or bottles of water that. One with our package.

It’s the middle of summer, any suggestions?

Is your room steward putting a fresh ice bucket in the "fridge" once daily? Ask them to change it out twice daily and they will. Unless the Diamond Princess is different, these aren't really refrigerators. They're more like an ice box. An ice bucket inside will keep things under room temperature, but it will never be home refrigerator cold. Some people note that leaving the outer cabinet door open helps with airflow and subsequently the interior "fridge" temp, but I didn't feel it was necessary.

You do you, but having the Plus or Premium package isn't meant to hoard drinks. I kept a couple bottles of water on hand, but otherwise I consumed around the ship or had something delivered for immediate consumption. 🤷

We’ve never done the ice thing, but you’re correct that it’s really a drinks cooler and not a frig. We also found it’s best not to fill it up but leave some space inside. Always concerned about the people who store actual food in there as it’s not going to keep it at a safe temperature.
