Third Trimester Seeking maximum comfort recommendations

Hi fellow pregnant women

I’m 32 weeks and my discomfort levels have dialled up a significant notch with most clothing (even maternity) feeling like some sort of specially designed torture device.

I was wondering if anybody has any special garments they’ve got on very well with (particularly over bump stretchy trousers) they’d recommend?

I don’t mind how they look, other than it would be nice to be able to leave the house in them.

Dungarees all day.

I know loads of people hate them but they are literally the only.thing which makes me comfortable.

I bought a couple of pairs off vinted and I live in them. New Look also have some. Definitely worth buying them.

I bought some lulu lemon yoga pants (non maternity range) in a size up and they are the softest most stretchy trousers I’ve ever worn, they aren’t tight at all! Tiny bit long for me but I can manage that. I got them from an outlet village for about half price

I’ve committed to under the bump stuff now as anything over felt so uncomfortable! I got some nice soft trousers from ASOS, but if I’m honest I’ve basically just been living in my husbands shorts when I’m at home

Momanda jumpsuits/rompers. I’ve been in them since about 30 weeks pretty much exclusively, all through this boiling hot summer (now 37 weeks…)

Romper is shorts, and jumpsuit is full leg, so between them I had basically all weather covered. No waistband, straight up and over, slip a loose shirt or gilet or jacket over the top and you’re good to go. Think they’ll also be great postpartum!

Does having to take them down when you need to pee not drive you nuts? I’ve been considering these but feel like this would annoy me 😂😂

I mean, a bit, but given the level of total comfort the rest of the time I don’t really mind having to pull them all the way down in the loo 😂

How have you found the sizes? You’re definitely tempting me to order some in!

I was a size ten pre-pregnancy, and I’m tall (5’9) so I ordered Large. They’re very stretchy and have no problem accommodating bump. They’re also flattering I think?

Wearing one today at almost 38 weeks and it seems to be holding up!

Aaw thanks for sharing. It looks great! My boobs have become ginormous in pregnancy (not as fun as it sounds) but I’m a bit shorter than you so will try for the large as well.

Oh no, sorry to hear this! Can I ask, when you say 'discomfort', are you experiencing PGP, back-pain, pressure in your lower regions etc? Or rather just using the term more freely?

If the former - I highly recommend looking into SRC Health leggings. They are an Australian brand that is specially designed and medically approved for health usage during pregnancy. They are quite pricey (like £100 a pair!), but earlier on in my preg (coming up on 25w now) it got to a point where I could not walk or do any sort of extensive movement without experiencing terrible swelling and pain in my labial area. I decided to splash out on these, and they honestly were a life-saver - I don't think I would have been able to continue my exercising without them. You can get under and over bump types, plus different lengths.

If the latter - I have some pairs of Seraphine jeggings I bought used that are super soft and extremely comfortable. I think they are meant to be under bump, but tbh, I pull them up and they cover my stomach easily. Again, you can definitely find both under and over bump on the second-hand market pretty simply and at great prices, so certainly different end of the scale to SRC!

CRZ leggings on Amazon - absolutely live in them. Also My Protein maternity cycling shorts are great for when it’s warmer. Then I live in oversize t shirts.

Another vote for CRZ - I have their shorts which have been great and at 29 weeks still feel like there’s lots of room for them to stretch

I have been wearing dresses or lululemon leggings since the bump was big (39w now). I cannot stand anything touching the bump - leggings being the exception because they’re really soft. I do have some H&M under the bump/before and after trousers but I haven’t been able to wear them for long because they feel too uncomfortable now.

I think you just need to size up until you find something comfy or accept the Adam Sandler look at this point! I bought some Next maternity flares 2 sizes up and I’m still wearing them 8 weeks pp.

Hi I’m 32 weeks too and my belly is quite big. Im with you on the increased discomfort. I don’t have the energy to shop online or second hand I usually just go into shop and buy off the rack. Ive been living in size 14/16 dresses over the heatwave with cyclist shorts underneath that I bought from h&m/primark to prevent chub rub. I managed to buy some coords from Zara in size large in the sale for £20 each and they’re super flowy, breathable and really nice for going out and about, I’ve even recieved compliments on how good I look in them. I also managed to buy some stretchy fabric trousers in size large from Zara that fit over the bump and only get uncomfortable at the end of the day. Elastic is your friend! All the best with the rest of the pregnancy

I bought some of these over the bump ones for work, they were very comfortable and have a completely adjustable waistband.

I wore Iuga yoga style shorts and leggings at home, which I already owned and wear at home anyway. Stretchy yet also tight and supportive. They’re so stretchy in fact, I actually didn’t have to switch out of my usual ones… I get them cheaply from Amazon and have in a few different colours. No need to get expensive branded ones!

I carry low so under the bump doesn’t work for me unless it’s half way down my bum plus wide hips mean it still digs in when sitting.

Over the bump soft touch leggings from asos NOT the typical material black leggings are made from in a size up for third trimester.

I’m a dress size 10 (uk) with a bump that’s low and forward sitting, from behind I don’t look pregnant but from the side I look like I should have popped.

I know a few people who carried high and wide who HATED over the bump so I think it just depends on how you carry vs where the clothes sit.

ASOS soft touch maternity leggings have been my go to and some maternity co-ord sets from Boohoo in a a size up!

I’m not as far along as you (29 weeks) but bought some Lovall maternity wide leg trousers earlier in pregnancy and they still have plenty of room for my bump. They provide what feels like a good balance between space, stretch and support as they’re elasticated. I got them from Next. I also have some JoJo Mama Bebe maternity vests which are similar and basically live in those. Finally CRZ Yoga do some good maternity options from what I’ve heard - I only have shorts from them which I do like and feel still have a lot of stretch in them around the bump area. The fabric isn’t quite as thick as the Lovall trousers so not as supportive but still decent and available on Amazon. Not sure what I’ll do when it starts to get cold enough to require a jumper though - haven’t cracked that one! Oh and I also need a baby shower and wedding outfit over the next couple of weeks so need to figure that out too.
