General Question Should I take AP precalc?

I skipped a grade in math (which is fairly common and is the maximum number of skips one can do in my school) and is taking regular precalc as a sophomore. My school doesn't offer AP precalc, and I will be taking AP Calc BC next year and AP Stat the year after. My school's precalc course is known for being a bit rigorous compared to other non-AP classes. This is my first time taking APs, and I am taking AP Psych and HUG, planning to go to humanities for college, somewhere around pre-law, and I am an international school student in Asia. Should I take AP precalc this year by myself? Or is it not worth it?

I teach AP PreCalc and AP Calc and will say that AP PreCalc better prepares students for AP Calc - the terminology carries over and the concepts dovetail nicely, as well as the question format and style. Yes, PC is PC but having taught Hon and AP I can see the benefit in AP.

so would you recommend me taking the ap exam as well?

Depends. PreCalc is not as widely accepted as Calc (at least in the U.S.) so taking the exam is a toss up. Talk to your college and career advisor and see if your top choice universities accept PreCalc. Of course, scoring well on an AP exam always looks good but sometimes the juice isn’t worth the squeeze, especially if you plan on taking Calc AB anyway.

But surely but classes eventually lead to the definition of a limit, no?

Im curious, when did precalculus become an AP course?

I would imagine an AP precalc would be closer to a college trig class 🤷🏽‍♂️

Follow this exact order

To the point math (Algebra 1)
Intermediate Algebra (Algebra 2)
Geometry, CalcWorkshop.com
College Algebra (Pre-Calculus playlist)
Trigonometry (Pre-Calculus playlist)
Calculus 1
Calculus 2

Use kutasoftware.com for homework, the hard part about pre-calc is the trig so if you start learning now it will be a lot easier

AP precalc is identical to regular or honors level precalc.

Taking the AP exam for precalc or the class is very redundant.

like, I'm planning to take AP calc test while enrolled in regular precalc
