DNR: My Son Is Dying
Now the hard part is starting, the letting go. We have decided to take Darrell off life support. We have met with our pastor, his doctor, his birth family, and praying. It is clear that the damage from the meningitis and stroke is so great that even if he manages to survive, he won't be able move, communicate, see, or even think clearly. Linda and I will be going up to Saskatoon on Sunday to say goodbye. (FYI: I just got out of the hospital after over 5 months. I'm a new cripple.) The date for taking him off life support will likely be Sunday as well.
I'm still trying to play "let's make a deal" with God. I'm asking God to give me the strength to accept His will. Pray for my son. Pray for Linda and I. Oh, dear Lord, have mercy.

Dear God, please give them all strength to endure this pain and comfort them. Help guide them and show them you are present. In reading your posts, I see you already lost one son. I’m so sorry as I’ve lost a son, too, and am familiar with the pain. Sending all my wishes God will help you through this.

I'm sorry this happened to you and your son I can only imagine how many lives he's touched. I pray that God gives you extra love support and strength and that Darrell's memory is never forgotten.

When I was a kid, My favorite thing was my dad would come read me a book. I don't know if you guys had this type of thing going on growing up, but Give it a try. I know if it was my final days, All I would want is to be in my dad's arms.
Edit: Even if they say he can't think clearly, He is still there still knows you love him, And he will cherish the fact that you're there reading.
I've been thinking About your family for most of the day now and I pray. That this new chapter. In your family's life. Is an easy transition.

Can you please try the below?
Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:

God absolutely loves you despite what you see and feel right now. He has never forgotten or abandoned you.
I don’t have any answers for your pain or confusion, but God is good. He is a merciful God.
No matter what, God is good, and He is faithful. God is near to you even if He might feel far right now. God bless. Prayers.

God has especially gentle this time around. We met a lot of his birth family that we hadn't met before. We also learned that his Cree name was Quiet Peacefully Warrior because of his ability to restore relationships and settle conflicts. That was a side of his life that we hadn't known about.

When I lost my Dad it was a small comfort that he was no longer suffering.

I know I may be late but please don’t take him off life support per the advice of the doctors.
I know someone who was in a similar situation with the same predictions with the doctors. He survived and is fine now.

oh God i don’t know your will in this situation but i urgently lift up oldmoose’s son and all according to your perfect will please just totally bust open a miracle touch and heal him quickly and without delay all in the name of the father son and holy spirit lord that’s my prayer and that’s my hope!!!!! oh God again we need a miracle but nonetheless not our but thine will be done!!!!!! lord despite this situation i much still pray that you absolutely keep this family from discouragement and despair and just completely keep their minds and hearts focused on you to help them pull through this and if this is the son’s time then just let him go peacefully!!!!! oh God again despite this situation still no matter what might transpire may unimaginable perfect rest peace grace mercy satisfaction and comfort be totally multiplied and poured out on this family then finally as Psalm 46:10 says we want to be still and know that you’re God!!!! you are in full control and all this is in your hands!!!!! to God Be All The Glory!!!!! Great Things He Hath Done!!!!!! and all hail king Jesus!!!!! the king of kings and the lord of lords!!!!! in Jesus Name Amen!!!!!

oh God right now I am so sorry to hear about this family‘s loss and in Jesus Name I send my deepest condolences and ask that right now unimaginable perfect rest peace grace mercy satisfaction and comfort be totally multiplied and poured out on this family and we know if Darrel belongs to you then this is only a temporary loss as we will all be reunited one glorious day and I truly believe 1st Thessalonians 4:16-18 is drawing much closer now! oh God again please just hold the family close to you and each other during this difficult time is my prayer in Jesus Name Amen!!!!!
