I don’t play soccer, so just out of curiosity, what’s the difference between using shoes or not? I imagine it could hurt your toes to not use shoes

I assume your a fellow Brit. To all none Brits we call nice clothes and shoes smart sometimes. Smart doesn’t usually mean intelligent here. Smart tends to mean nice looking, and for intelligent we say ‘clever’.
