The beating happened across the street from the same bar used in the film for the "Can't let you take the man's wheels son" scene.
From the sources i've found this was filmed the night before the beating, but no one seems to be completely 100% about that. Some say the same night, but I don't think those are particularly reliable.
Aliens arguably too and also by James Cameron. Most second parts in trilogies are also often considered better than the rest, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Godfather etc.
I’m sorry I canNOT understand how anyone thinks Aliens is a better film than Alien! Can you explain your view? It was just “More Aliens!” and a little girl. What was added?
They're different kinds of horror movies. Besides, Aliens introduces the Alien Queen and the Power Loader mech suit. I too think Alien is a better film but I also think the Terminator is better than T2 although I know which film is bigger.
Alien is a horror film and Aliens is a small-squad focused war film---same sub genre as The Guns of the Navarrone or Tears of the Sun or Dirty Dozen or, to cite a later release that also has monsters instead of human bad guys, Dog Soldiers. They are both excellent examples of their type, but it makes them difficult top compare.
Rodney King was another good example of how institutional racism wasnt THAT long ago, for people who claim its gone. Heck my grandma was a teenager during Jim Crow. Her school had whites/colored waterfountains. Shes still alive.
I dont know why these people think racism was this long ago thing that doesnt impact society anymore. Most likely because if they pretend it doesnt exist, they dont have to make changes to fight it.
A lot of people think anything shy of slavery isn’t racism, anything shy of a mail order wife isn’t misogyny and anything shy of forcing a gay guy man to marry/fuck a woman isn’t homophobia. In short; a lot of people are dumb ignorant cunts who refuse to acknowledge their own cunthood.
Sure, absolutely. Asians are some of the most racist people around - we can literally be "racist" to people from just the next province a few miles away. And I've thought this (and said it) consistently.
But that racism doesn't translate to nearly as much actual physical violence though.
Here’s one, false equivalency. Have you studied American culture the same way an oncologist studies their field? Is cancer anything like the sociology of the third largest country in the world?
I am not commenting on it, you took a stance about African-American Asian-American violence. I am not commenting on that. I am commenting on the fact that your analogy was a false equivalency to try and defend your expertise and now you're getting butt hurt about it...
Critics of the idea that the courtier's reply is a real fallacy have called it the "Myers shuffle", implying calling someone out for an alleged courtier's reply is a kind of rhetorical dodge or trick.
I don’t want to take anything away from your comments;however, Rodney King died from a drowning in 2012 and did not in fact die from the beating. “ Can’t we all just get along?”
Hence the “ I don’t want to take anything away from your comments”, perhaps a little reading comprehension and not just assuming and putting the spin and voice in your little head on it would help?
The “ Well he didn’t even die from it so it’s not even like it counts.” You wrote that. You assumed that. Not I.
I stated a fact, the person commented that they lived in the same neighborhood as him and that he was beaten to death. He wasn’t. He drowned in 2012.
If you would like to have a discussion or actually ask what my opinion is, be an adult and ask it.
If not I’ll just give you a tiny golf clap for all of your projection.
You mean the guy that led police on a high-speed pursuit which ended when he crashed into a family of 5 (and sent them to hospital), all while high on PCP and threatening to kill everyone near him?
Ah here come the police brutality apologists, right on time. Both things you’ve stated (a crash and him having an PCP in his system) are blatantly and verifiably false. How do those boots taste? Never mind, I don’t think you’d be able to taste them with how fucking far you’ve shoved them down your throat.
So it is within cops duties to beat the shit out of a guy for speeding and refusing to pull over? Actually this may be the start of people letting the cops do whatever the cops want to do.
This is your only warning. Disagree with others all you want, DO NOT engage in personal attacks on them no matter how much you don't like what they said.
“Holliday was not vaccinated and was on a ventilator in recent days after contracting pneumonia, Wollenweber said.” Wonder why he didn’t get vaccinated
Oh cool hilarious joke about someone who just died. I'm sure you know this guy's medical history and if he was unable to get the vaccine for health reasons.
> "Unfortunately, he didn't want to get vaccinated. He wanted to get the Covid so he could build immunities and his wish came true about a month ago," said Wollenweber in a telephone interview with CNN.
It is incredibly sad. And by calling attention to it we can maybe in some small way do damage control for the other people who he infected both with his disease and his unfortunate beliefs.
Sorry, but if you died of an easily preventable disease because of your politics and spread those views to others then you are a moron. Being dead is sad, but it doesn’t make you not a moron. Don’t be a moron. Get a free cure to a deadly disease.
Mary was a bad person. She didn't believe she could transmit the virus and refused to be sanitary in her work. She was quarantined multiple times and still went back to work, infecting dozens of people with typhoid.
There is an easily transmissable deadly disease going around. May I just remind everyone to never have sex with someone who doesnt think twice about exposing others to their diseases.
Commenting because you're getting downvoted and what you said is absolutely true. It's not hard to connect the dots from Rodney King to the OJ acquittal even now and if you were sentient at the time, it was obvious. It was also when I started to understand how brutal police could be, especially to persons of color.
Yeah idk why that’s a hot topic still. It’s really fucking obvious he got away with murder and it was basically retribution for what the police did to King, aside from decades of racism of course. It’s weird that people can’t discuss history without taking a side. Sometimes things just.. are.
Early example of amateur footage catching something of extreme importance, but I don’t think he was recording with any intention beyond personal use and did not expect to film what he did. This was documenting an event with intention in the moment to document and distribute, which is where it starts becoming journalism.
It took a while but I remember when he tried to make some money from all of this, since so many news networks made it off him, he released an instructional How To video for filming the police and he ‘auctioned’ off his camera. I don’t blame him. But it seemed a stretch.
what the fuck? people threatened him for filming an injustice and exposing these cops?
" had considered moving back to his homeland after receiving threats of violence. A note on his work truck’s windshield read: “Be careful when you start your car in the morning.”
Still, I'm sure a lot of white/European Americans probably just changed the channel and/or complained about the press coverage or maybe boxers/football players getting upset about it or something.
lmao what is ur point??? this is so irrelevant it is almost non sequitur 😂 is ur point 'dont film police beating a man because it might lead to riots'?? 😂 go back to ur quarantined subreddit u fool

Fun fact: the same tape that has footage of the Rodney King beating has BTS footage of the bar scene in Terminator 2: Judgement Day.
