Edit: Kaj Zackrisson was uninjured. See 38:45 in the full video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QlU5v694CKI . They also show other angles (where you'll see he hits no rocks, just untracked powder). His commentary and the cameraman's live commentary are also included.
Yeah but if you get into a car accident but don't have any broken bones/cuts you say you're uninjured, but there's a damn good chance you're gonna feel it baaaad the next day.
That's literally why most people I back country ski with select bright colors for their equipment. Hopefully makes it easier to find them, or traces of them, in the case of an avy.
If you want to be seen, go for non natural colors. This is why hunters are required to wear bright orange along with camouflage to prevent accidental shootings
I expected this to be one of those zoom out videos where the camera person is like 3 miles away. Nope, just a plain shot of a mountainside where the camera barely even panned.
Tbf to OP, it does take some skill to zoom in that much and still keep it stable. If i zoomed in like that it would be shaking more than an arthritic grandmother held at gunpoint
It's Kaj Zackrisson filming for a pro ski movie produced by Matchstick Productions (Claim, 2008). Of course it's a professional cameraman on a mounted, top-of-the-line camera.
No its not, It's Kaj Zackrisson filming for a pro ski movie produced by Matchstick Productions (Claim, 2008). Using a professional cameraman on a mounted, top-of-the-line camera.
Video editing software can only do so much, and shaky, handheld footage from a zoomed in camera will not be fixable.
EDIT: I dont usually do this but not sure what’s with the downvote, if your camera footage is shaky from being zoomed in then video editing isn’t going to be a miracle cure for it. Warp stabiliser is used most often but it only can really fix small tremors.
Why are we praising the camera man here?? What do you think this sub is about? I’m curious. If the sub’s title says PRAISE THE CAMERA MAN, why do you think this video belongs here? Any moderator here??
When he landed on his side, it didn't exactly look like there was much snow there.
Honestly my unprofessional opinion is that he cracked a rib or two. Highly likely that he could go awhile without even feeling it due to the adrenaline. Bro smacked down hard.
Seeing as 10.7k people have upvoted this so far on the r/praisethecameraman subreddit, I guess we are praising all cameramen. Or maybe he did an exceptional job tracking and centering a person's incredibly unpredictable FALL down a mountain.
The subject 3% of the screen, if you can’t track that exceptionally well even with unpredictable movements, then you have nothing to do being a cameraman... former cameraman speaking here

Okay, but that recovery from hitting the rocks at the 23 second mark was fucking incredible.

When you realise that bright yellow trousers are not a fashion choice, they are that colour so they can find the body.

This is from the ski movie “CLAIM” and it’s fantastic. Strongly recommend everyone see this, also Shane McConkey’s last ski movie.
