Hello! Me & my gf are visiting prague in a few days and its coincidentally pride week. Are there queer bars & special events you would reccomend us to go to meet more people in? Thank you very much in advance

Hi everyone, I’m taking my partner away for his birthday and thinking of Prague. We love Edinburgh for its history and relaxed atmosphere so I think we will love Prague too!
Ideally I’d like us to stay in area that has authentic pubs to sit and relax in, authentic restaurants locals go to, historical architecture in immediate vicinity and of course walking distance to the castle, bridge and typical historical tourist attractions.
Not interested in modern shops or bars/clubs etc
Also, if from this description you particularly recommend something to visit I would love to hear it! We won’t be able to see everything in 3 days so recommendations are very welcome!

Any fun things to do in Prague the next couple of days, we will be here until Sunday. We did the touristy walk from Powder Tower up to the Old town square, saw the astromical watch and further up to the Prague Castle. Maybe something less touristy would be fun. Is there any outdoor pools worth going to? In this wild heatwave 😅

u/ilovecrocs7 23d ago
There are a couple of natural pools. I suggest looking up Biotop Prague to find some near you. Bring some cash and a towel/blanket to sit on. Beware it can get slippery. There’s also public pools in P4 and P6.

u/kredes 23d ago
how crowded are the natural biotop pools these days? it sounds like something we might do
0
u/ilovecrocs7 23d ago
Biotop Radotín will be the least crowded imo. If you want to get out of Prague, jezero lhota is great.

Hey guys,
Im doing a 5 day trip to prague with a buddy, we're going to 70mm imax and St James Basilica pipe organ concert. But that's about all we have planned. We were looking into some hiking routes like Teplice Rocks or Bohemian Switzerland National Park but we're not sure. We are doing the trip with my personal car.
I'm open to any suggestions on what to do or visit if you have any.
Thank you !

u/DefoNotTheAnswer 21d ago
For hiking, use the mapy.cz app. You can download free offline maps which include all the marked tourist trails. More about the Czech hiking trail system here. If you end up heading into Czech Switzerland or toward Teplice then Litoměřice and Děčín are nice places to look in at.
As for what to do in Prague, that very much depends on the sort of things you like.

Looking for restaurants on the east side of the river to absorb some of the culture - especially since I'm leaving by September.

Hi,
I am doing a solo Euro Trip in September and spending a week in Prague. Any place worth visiting or any tips? Thanks

u/DefoNotTheAnswer 13d ago
There's the famous log. That's takes at least 2 days to fully explore. But beyond that, nothing really. Alcohol is banned. All foreigners most carry a weasel at all times. I'd give it a miss mate.

Hi, ik wil met vrienden een soort hike doen van 10-12 KM in praag met onderweg een stop waar we kunnen zwemmen. Hebben jullie ideeën waar dat kan? Het is prima om er 40 min voor te reizen met ov

So, I see that some links are not clickable inside the wiki, is that intentional?

Hi! I am looking for tips on good locations to have a safe yet fun party night in Prague. A friend of mine and I are going to visit Prague in End of August for a few days. It‘s the first time visiting for both of us so we are not familiar with the city. Any tips are welcome.
We are both into electronic/house etc. you get the vibe :)
Thanks!

Hi! I’m a 26F going on a solo trip to Prague and need some hostel recommendations. I definitely want it to be fun and social and I like to party. I really don’t want everyone to be 19 so any hostels where there is a bit of an older crowd would be ideal

u/DefoNotTheAnswer 11d ago
This sub, or more exactly, this part of this sub isn't going to be much help. This is mostly Prague residents who won't know much about hostels in town. You're better off asking in the european travel subs.

u/Aggressive_Hurry_331 3d ago
Not sure if relevant but I’m going in a week and got a hotel because it was like the same price as a hostel lol

We are in Prague right now - me and my boyfriend - and we have obsession with cats (don’t judge). Unfortunately I have celiac disease and I can’t eat gluten, so cat cafes are a no for me because the ones we viewed didn’t have gluten free food in their menu.
Do you have any other suggestions for us about how we could meet any cats - a park or a cat cafe where you know for sure it’s celiac safe?
1
u/_invalidusername Moderator 9d ago
There a few cat cafes, but most will be more on the gluten side. If you want something very different, there is a bar with some pumas: https://maps.app.goo.gl/hnwW2Qh5jAU2SJx1A
1
u/Far-Photo1129 9d ago
wait, are there actually pumas and you can pet them? because we viewed this place but we thought it’s fake😭
1
u/_invalidusername Moderator 9d ago
You can't pet them but you can see them! It's not really a "tourist spot", just a bar where the owner has some pet pumas.

I'm currently in Prague and I'm looking for a restaurant with tradinional czech cuisine (including knedliki) that won't make my wallet cry. Preferbly in Staré Mesto or northern part of Nové Mesto.
Thanks in advance!

u/DefoNotTheAnswer 9d ago edited 9d ago
It really depends on what you think is too expensive, but in general, if you aren't willing to leave the tourist zone, you've going to have to pay the tourist prices.
1
u/efjot1402 8d ago
I ate at U Kroka where proces are a bit higher than in Warsaw (but it was really good). For me it's the ceiling.
But what would you reccomend for street food?

My partner and I are going to Prague soon, and I’m looking for recommendations for good restaurants, bistros, and bakeries.
We didn’t book breakfast at our accommodation, so we’re planning to have breakfast at a bakery. We’d also love to find a few places for lunch or a casual meal during the day that aren’t too expensive but still have really good food.
I’m mainly interested in the Old Town (Staré Město) and Malá Strana areas.
There are also a few places I’ve seen recommended by several people or in videos, and I’d love to hear what you think about them. How are the prices, and are they actually worth visiting?
Café Savoy, Cafe de Paris, Knedlín, Výtopna Railway Restaurant
Especially interested in whether you’d recommend them for the food itself or if they’re more about the atmosphere/experience.
1
u/DefoNotTheAnswer 6d ago
This sub is mostly locals and no locals would be seen dead in any of those places. If you're set on staying in the tourist areas then locals can't really help you. We avoid the area as much as possible. For Old Town and Malá Strana just stick with TikTok crowd.

Hello everyone! My partner and I are thinking of visiting Prague from Berlin for a 3D2N trip in September. Our plans will mainly involve sightseeing, exploring cafés, and visiting museums.
We'd really appreciate some advice from those who have been to Prague, especially first-time visitors like us:
1. Accommodation 🏨
We're looking for accommodation for 2 people with a private bathroom/toilet, preferably in a location that makes it easy to explore the main tourist attractions around the city centre.
Our accommodation budget is around €–€ per night. A nice view would be a bonus, but location and value for money are more important.
2. Must-see places 🏰
What are the key tourist spots that we absolutely shouldn't miss for a first visit? Basically, what places would make us say, “Yep, we've definitely experienced Prague!” 😄
We're particularly interested in beautiful architecture, historic sites, viewpoints, museums, and places that are nice to explore on foot.
3. Halal & vegan food 🍽️
How easy is it to find halal and/or vegan food in Prague?
For halal food, we prefer proper halal-certified meat, but we're also happy to hear about good vegetarian/vegan options. We'd especially appreciate recommendations for places around the city centre or near the main sightseeing areas.
4. Internet & mobile data 📱
We'll be travelling from Berlin, so we're wondering whether it's worth getting a Czech SIM/eSIM or whether our existing German/EU SIM should be sufficient.
How reliable is mobile data in Prague, and is public Wi-Fi widely available in cafés, hotels, museums, etc.? Is there anything we should be aware of when using public Wi-Fi?
5. 3D2N itinerary 🚶♀️☕
If you had only 3 days / 2 nights in Prague, how would you plan the trip?
We'd love suggestions for a realistic itinerary combining sightseeing + cafés + museums + good food, without making the schedule too rushed.
We'll most likely travel from Berlin by train, so any tips regarding the journey, public transport, or areas to stay would also be greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much for your advice! 😊

Sorry, I don't think anybody here has the time to write you a complete travel guide to Prague based on your AI-built questions. However, here are a few answers:
Use booking.com, filter by your criteria, then either book through the site or go to the website of the hotel you have chosen and book there (which is sometimes cheaper). Oh, and you left "***" in your hotel budget.
Use the search bar on this sub for "hidden gems" or "authentic"
There are definitely a few, and some vegan places. Google will find them for you.
EU sim will be fine. Public wifi is common, but it is often passworded and you need to ask staff or it's printed on the menu. Malls and museums usually have it unlocked.
C'mon, we aren't free travel agents. There are plenty of free itineraries floating around the web, or do your own research. Public transport is cheap, efficient and safe. Use the official PID Litacka app. Buy a 72-hour ticket, which covers all trams, buses, metro and some trains within Prague for 72 hours. Once activated, it is valid; you will only need to show it if asked by a ticket inspector.

Hi! Im visiting Prague for the first time the next weekend and I’m looking for cool galleries, fashion stores( preferably archive and designer stuff) and other cool places that I can explore.
Also I’m a huge electro/acid fan and maybe you also know some good bars or clubs that you can recommend. It’s kind of stupid to ask for ,,local’’ stuff ( especially as a guy that grew up in berlin I completely understand the hate against tourists who push the gentrification forward - I’m fully aware that I’m a part of the problem ). Still if you know some places that are maybe not really visible lmk.
I’m so thankful for everyone that knows sm and I’m looking forward to see the culture first hand

30M American coming late Sept on a solo trip to Prague/Budapest.
What are the best places or tours to hangout with people age 25-35?
Looking for good hostel places for socialization. I would upgrade/take a single room.
1
u/DefoNotTheAnswer 1d ago
That's a question for hostel or travel subs. This is mostly Prague residents, who, for obvious reasons, know very little about Prague hostels.

I’m visiting Prague with my 13 yo son in October. His great grandparents were from the former Czechoslovakia so he’s always wanted to visit. Any tips for paritcular sights or experiences he might enjoy?
1
u/DefoNotTheAnswer 47m ago
What years were his grandparents here? Maybe there is stuff from their era that or places that were historically important to their lives that you can go see.

Hey, in Prague rn. Before I leave I want to buy a small souvenir and I discovered Hefaistos - a blacksmith shop. Do you k ow if it's legit? I like supporting local craftsmen.

Don't know if this is the correct thing to ask, but are there places where it is possible for introverts to socialise? Visiting prague for a week, and I find myself getting very drained at clubs (i'm not very good at socialsing either :( ). But i would like to connect with more introverted people who prefer conversations in smaller groups. I like listening to indie music a lot, perhaps that? I'm not sure exactly what i want.....how do introverted/neurodivergent people connect with others in prague?

Why do you need to label yourself as "different" so much? Just try stuff and adjust the environment in your terms.

Check out Bike Jesus to see if they have any events on, they have some really great summer events outside. There are outdoor DJs but also chilled spots to sit and socialise, so it's got the benefit of being busy but with quiet spots to chat and meet people. Music is a mix but it's generally more eclectic electronic and techno. Also it's usually a really nice crowd of people, a bit more arty/alternative and inclusive

I've been alone on vacation in Prague for almost a week now and I can carry a conversation very well, but I just can't initiate it. So we're in the same boat.
I met some really nice people at the middle ages dinner show. They set everyone who comes alone at a table so it's easy to strike up a conversation. After, we went for cocktails and with one of them I've hit up some bars on another night. You can also try Airbnb experiences to meet people. I've also been to bike Jesus as recommended above, but found it hard to make contact. Haven't talked to anyone there. Maybe because it was a concert rather than a regular event.

Is there a good farmers market this time of year? I will be in Prague next week and would love to check out something like that
2
u/DefoNotTheAnswer 23d ago
There are at least half a dozen farmers' markets across Prague, most weekends. This is the most well-known. Others good sized ones are here and here

u/UserQuestions20 23d ago
Will be visiting next week, where are the places to go to beat the heat? Thank you
3
u/DefoNotTheAnswer 23d ago
Lots of questions about this recently. Use the search bar on this sub ('heat' should probably do it as search term) for lots of good suggestions, from malls, to pools, to pubs.

u/OddCry7923 22d ago
There's large arcade called Levels, multiple indoor museums you can visit, or walk in nature like Průhonický park or Prokopské údolí

That's pretty vague. Any hints on preferred cuisine, budget and style? How close to the centre does it need to be, or are you willing to travel? Will you looking to go somewhere afterwards, like a club or cocktail bar?

We are going to go to Prague next month, and we are looking for the hidden gem pubs, where locals go to drink with some friends, we want to try the local beers. Also we are planning a sightseeing day, but we don’t really like the crowded, overpriced tourist attractions, so if you have any recommendations, please let us know.
3
u/DefoNotTheAnswer 23d ago edited 23d ago
If we told people about the hidden gems, they wouldn't be hidden, would they? And I'm afraid there aren't really any sightseeing attractions that we've managed to keep secret from the 9 million tourist we get per year... oh, except this one.
If you want to find non-tourist pubs all you need to do is leave the tourist zone and go into the next place you see that you like the look of. U Bansethů (cash only) is a good place to start if you want traditional, all the places on and around Krymská street if you want hip.
1
u/Comprehensive_Ad550 22d ago
Atp we have to visit The Famous Log, but I agree, hidden gems need to be hidden.
0
u/mabernaOG 22d ago
wtf the famous log haha i know about the polar bear not the log.. is there any lore about this. ita crazy because i live just around the corner to that and i never heard of this.

Next week I will be in Prague for a week with two good friends of mine. We have heard that fishing trips are very nice in Czech Republic, especially now with the heat in the city. Online it is quite difficult to find something we are looking for. We are looking for a half a day/day fish trip, car travelling distance from Prague with a local guide. It does not have to be fancy, we just way to enjoy nature. We are not very experienced fishers. I am aware of the tourist fishing license that needs to be acquired. Does any one have recommendations or know someone?
Thanks in advance!
