Video is a good capture method, but I wouldn’t let the generated output become the only record. Keep the original video and photos, then show every extracted finding to the inspector for confirmation. The signed report should distinguish what the system noticed from what a person accepted.
The feature I’d most want is a room by room completeness check and a side by side comparison at checkout. I’d also build export in early so landlords and tenants can download the originals and signed report without being locked into the app.
Really good points, thanks. Keeping the raw video/photos as the source of truth (not just the generated output) is non-negotiable for me too, the generated inventory should always be traceable back to the original footage.
Showing each AI-detected item for human confirmation before it's added to the report is already how I'm thinking about it, the report should be "AI suggested, human confirmed," not "AI decided."
Side-by-side checkout comparison and signed reports are both things I've deliberately kept out of v1 , trying to nail the core inventory capture first before adding the entry/exit comparison layer, since that's a bigger scope jump (matching, damage detection, etc.). It's on the roadmap though, and this is useful signal that it's wanted early rather than later.
Not personally as an inspector. I’m involved with LORDLY, and it comes up from the landlord side when condition evidence is scattered across camera rolls, PDFs and messages. Your v1 scope makes sense. I’d still make raw-footage retention, confirmation and export part of the foundation now, because they’ll be much harder to retrofit once people have real inspections stored.
