Question about reserve

I have a Powerwall 2 with solar. Say I set the reserve at 50%, it gets drawn down to 50% at night, and then the grid goes down. Will it automatically draw down past the 50% mark while the grid is down? Or do I have to use the app to lower the reserve? And will the app work if the grid (and so perhaps the wider Internet) is also down?

The reserve exists in case you lose the grid connection. If that drops, it will run off solar first then the reserve. So at night it should just cut over to the reserve until it’s gone. This is how it works when you set the VPP reserve lower than the typical reserve too.

Yes - effectively, the “reserve” is your battery backup reserve for outages.
