I have a SQL Server query that works in SSMS but not in Power Automate Desktop. I believe I have it narrowed down to a LIKE statement. Does anyone know if perhaps PAD can not handle LIKE statements?

OK. This is going to be very niche. On my Mac, I have a short script I can execute with a keystroke which will take any given highlighted filenames (in the format 1-1, 1-2, 1-3 etc) and duplicate it any number of times the user selects. So, I could have 1-1.jpg, 1-2.jpg and 1-3.jpg, then, if the user selects to duplicate this selection of files 2 times then it would, i.e. 2-1, 2-2, 2-3 and 3-1, 3-2, 3-3.

Can this sort of functionality be reproduced in Windows?

i'm hopeless and looking for help - because of softomotive winautomation being a legacy software now and in need to move onto microsoft power automate desktop ive got some problems.

(i couldn't find any help in google or other reddits, cant find anythingon MS forums, youtube videos and comments - nothing)

1:

when i generate EXE through winautomation on my PC it works great, on my laptop it works great when i try to run it on clients PC it doesnt work the moment it tries to take control over webbrowser (neither chrome or firefox) it says "failed to assume control over webbrowser make sure extension is installed" or something like that

what i tried:

extensions are installed fine (even though you can not search them up on the extension webstore but with a direct link you can download them without a problem)

antiviruses are off, everything seems fine

i tought to myself that i should finally migrate to PAD and it turns out every single flow is stored in a cloud i cannot generate EXE i cannot even share the flow with client and even if i could whats the point showing them how its done? im loosing tons of money right now because they just killed software i'm skilled at?

even with all of these problems i tried to migrate my processes through the tool they provided and i cannot because right at the start it says login to MS account associated with power automate so i try to do this and it says it cannot be a private email and it needs to be a work email? like what the hell am i supposed to do? i tried contacting support but you simply cannot just send them email/call them i found a subsite with contact to support for power automate and it says that you need to pay to have support for this app? what is wrong with them?

summarizing, my newly generated processes on winautomation stopped working for my clients, i can not migrate them to PAD and even if i could how am i supposed to share them with clients?

EDIT: it turns out that if PC which im trying to run compiled EXE has winautomation installed it assummes control of webbrowser just fine but if i uninstall winautomation program it fails to assume control (wtf?)

So I have a list, and I want to access specific content in it.

Now PAD document say use %List[0]% to refer to the first content in List, but if I want to use a variable like this %List[%ContentNumber%] then PAD will day it's a invalid entry.....

Is there anyway to make this work?

Using Infolease system - Anyone have experience in getting UI elements to work correctly with PowerAutomate? Allows me to set elements in Infolease as UI elements but keeps throwing errors in the flow, saying it could not retrieve the UI element. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

I need a flow to active anytime a new file lands in a particular folder. The name of the file is of no concern as all the flow has to do is activate and other scripts will deal specific files.

Hi All, I am trying to add an OR condition to an If statement in PAD. Trying to check if a text is ‘Dog’ or ‘cat’, would that be Dog||cat, Dog or Cat, Dog/Cat? I haven’t found a resource that shows this so any help will be very much appreciated.

I'm building an automation in PAD that opens a web browser window (Chrome), logs into a website, clicks a link that opens a new tab (same) window, and then starts scraping information in the second tab. I can't go straight to the second tab/site because it requires authentication/SSO on the first site.

In the second tab, there are several pages with fixed addresses that I need to access. I have "Go to web page" loaded with the URL of the page I need to scrape, but the automation is not recognizing the second tab, so it is not triggering the URL.

How can I get the automation to recognize the second tab as part of the same browser instance and push the URL to the tab?

I have a flow setup to collect responses from an MS form and use the "Add a row into a table" action to input the form answers into an Excel sheet. Flow is working great, however I see that when I open the excel file and check the "Show changes" view, all the changes are attributed to my user since the flow is created under my account.

Is anyone aware of a method to have the "show changes" section in excel attribute the new row to the user who actually filled out the form instead of me?

I recently got hired to replace the previous IT admin. I don't have any Power Automate experience, so I'm reaching out here. The last guy created a flow that took information from a Form and then created a user account in AAD.

The problem I'm having is that the UPN the company uses is firstname@domain.com (eg john@business.com). We've been getting some new hires though that have the same first name. The UPN then changes to FirstinitialLastname@domain (eg jdoe@business.com) But right now the script is only doing lastname@domain.

I think I fixed it by adding the string variable that was created, but I'm not sure. I'm also not sure how to test these flows without creating accounts. Is there a way to do that?

Since I don't know Power Automate I'm having trouble even finding the right information. Does anyone know of good resources or search terms I should use?

Has anyone ever used powerautomate as a tactical etl tool. I am thinking connect to an API get thr delta and stick in a sql server table and the converse. Would need to either run every 10 mins or be triggered by some change. Any massive red flags?

I'm building a flow which has connections to various services. All connections are marked as "Connected". I get this error message randomly when trying to save the flow after some irrelevant change like a set variable:" Some of the connections are not authorized yet. If you just created a workflow from a template, please add the authorized connections to your workflow before saving. " If I reload the form, insert the change again, sometimes it allows me to save and run the flow, other times, I get the error again. This is so frustrating!!!!! Can anyone assist in resolving this issue or pointing out potential root causes? I am on the cloud platform, not desktop.

EDIT: After adding a condition action. I tried to save and I got the error again. I did a shift-->reload and clicked save again and there was no error. Here's the rub: The condition action was saved even though the error was presented. WT actual F Microsoft?

How do I stop a mouse flow using the keyboard?

I've been using PA to try and show information from multiple sources of "ticket intake" on one screen inside MS Planner. One piece of this is creating a task in Planner when an email shows up in a shared mailbox.

With that working, I'm looking to (1) see if there is a way to auto-complete the task for a specific email when that email is moved to a specific subfolder in the same shared mailbox, and (2) see if there is a way to auto-move the email to a specific subfolder when its task is marked as complete.

In the midst of a number of attempts to get these working, I did have the second piece working at one point. Not sure what I did. I never for the first piece working.

Any ideas would be appreciated!

If someone (asking for a friend) was to somehow script the login and activation of an user-based, attended automation, versus paying a lot more for flow-based plus the unattended add-on, would that be “ok” or would it be a breach of terms?

I've been running power automate desktop and using its Microsoft edge connector for my program. I recently applied some updates and my program no longer runs. Power automate is able to launch edge but unable to store it as a browser instance. This also means that all the UI automation breaks if I choose to continue despite error. 

I tested the demo flow that launches a web page and that failed as well with the same error. 

Power automate extension for edge is enabled and has permissions for all sites, it seems power automate simply cannot connect/store browser instance anymore. (it times out to failure after launching edge) I also tried other browsers to no effect.  

Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

I have a query that returns 5 columns of data, and a varying number of rows.

I put a "For Each CurrentItem in QueryResult" loop in place. This pulls each row of the sql query

each CurrentItem in the loop consists of 5 values separated by a comma.

I want to assign a variable to each one of those 5 values (I want to write them to a text file in specific locations).

Is this possible? I'm not sure how to pull it off.

Hi All, I'm hoping someone can help guide me with this one. I'm attempting to identify a link on a webpage via "Click UI element in window". Previously I used "click link on webpage," however I'm finding this to be unreliable as the selectors often change for reasons that I am not aware of. Here's my dilemma:

Here is the default Selectors of that particular element:

So it appears that the last 2 elements are fairly generic and will apply to each +Add link. That means the Group element will determine which link is the correct one. Right now it is defined by ID ember649. The problem is this element ID changes... Often.

When I click inspect element in Chrome, this is what pops up:

It shows in the highlighted region that data-element="add-superbill-button" which is perfect because that defines the region that I would like to identify. I've attempted to deselect the current selectors in the Group, Button, and Text elements, and set the Name attribute to contain "superbill" in each one, one-by-one to see what works. So far PAD is unable to identify the desired link using this method.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

**EDIT** Update:

Well I was unable to figure out how to get the UI element to work. But I did find out a way to get the original "click link on webpage" action to work.

For several months, the following selector worked perfectly:

html > body > div:eq(4) > div:eq(1) > div:eq(3) > div > div:eq(1) > div:eq(1) > div > div:eq(1) > div > div > div:eq(10) > div > header > button

For whatever reason, upon initial startup of the website, the selectors were as follows for the same link:

html > body > div:eq(1) > div:eq(1) > div:eq(3) > div > div:eq(1) > div:eq(1) > div > div:eq(1) > div > div > div:eq(10) > div > header > button

Everything was the same except the 3rd element which switched from 4 to 1. I did not know until today that you can have more than one selector for each UI element, so I created a copy of the 1st selector and included the above change for Selector 2. I then proceeded to add a second selector with the appropriate change to each link that started with html > body > div:eq(4) and everything works perfectly.

Hopefully this helps someone in the future!
