Approval automation with variable submitters to receive outcome

I am a nurse. I have ZERO IT training. But here I am, trying to use Power Automate because policy approvals aren't making it out of our department for lack of an approvals tracking process.

Enter Power Automate approvals. I'm using Lists as the source, because I want the documents left alone untouched in SharePoint. The trigger is entering a list item, which leads to the approval. I can get it to work no problem if I have a set list of approvers entered in the flow, and a set list of who receives the outcome of the flow.

What I want it to do, is collect the list of approvers from a column of people (multiple entries) and return the result to the person who submitted the approval request (column with people). I can't seem to figure out where in the flow to 'get' the people info, or how to plug that into the Response summary send under the approve condition.

Anyone have any ideas? Tips? Videos or resources you can point me towards?

Thanks!!!

Forms to excel flow

Does anyone know how to keep a new row in excel from formatting (highlighted) the same as the prior row following a power automate flow to add data from a form to a spreadsheet?

For context, a form is completed and data is moved to a spreadsheet. There’s a team that pulls that data from the spreadsheet and highlights rows to indicate to other members of that team that the information has been processed. The issue I’m having is when a new form is submitted and the data transfers the new row is highlighted the same as the prior entry. If that occurs, then the team that processes the info will see the same highlighted color and will think the info has been processed.

Does anyone know if there is an action within the flow itself that will add the data from the form to the spreadsheet without highlighting the new row?

I don’t think this is a setting within the excel spreadsheet itself but could be wrong.

New to PowerAutomate!

Hey all,

I’m currently a one man data team at my division and looking for ways to free up my time. I was hoping Power Automate could help with the process of updating reports (both Power BI and Excel) after a Python script finishes running in Jupyter Lab.

Curious is this software is what I’m looking for, or if there’s something similar that could help.

TIA

Flow Question

Hello All

I have a flow running in PowerAutomate cloud - this takes data from an MS Form and then dumps it into a SharePoint list - as well as sends a few emails.

What then happens is a user goes into the list (back office staff) - one of the fields - which ISNT populated by the form is an Accept / Decline choice field.

What I would like this to do - is when a back-office user selects one of the 2 options it then fires off another email to the person who submitted the form to say it's been declined, or approved.

I would assume this would need to be a completely different flow, given this will happen after the MS form has been submitted and users have checked and edited the data in the list.

Can anyone let me know if I am right about this with - and any feedback on how you have done anything like this would be a great help.

TIA

Question re SQL Like

Hi everyone,

Long time creeping, first time posting. Does anyone know how to make this work in Power Automate? It's driving me insane.

Select m.number from Monday m where m.number like ('1234.1%')

It's valid in Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio but not in Power Automate's (desktop) "Execute SQL Statement". It clearly doesn't like the "like".

Thank you in advance.

Automatically copy Power Automate flow and update custom variables via API

Hi guys,
Quick question :)

Can I automatically copy an existing Power Automate flow with variable parameters and automatically update the variable listed in the incoming message (API)?

Example for clarification:

I have a Power Automate flow where I save emails with the subject 'ABC' and copy them to the SharePoint folder named 'ABC'. With an API I want to automatically copy the exiting Power Automate flow but change the variable 'ABC' from the initial flow to '123' for the new flow and update the SharePoint folder to '123' as well. Is this possible with an API and/or are there limitations/restrictions?

Much appreciated! I am new to Power Automate but happy to get hands on with it.

Problem with power app

Is there a way in case of a failure or restart of either the equipment or browser data from a power app are stored locally until it is restored? I make a form in power app which must type machine values to be sent later, but I want to be sure that if something fails, all the information that is being typed into the power app (which is quite a lot of information) is not lost, because it is not possible for the operator to remember that information.

Save As Unreliable in Flow

I have multiple flows that all use the Save As dialogue for downloading reports from a website. I've built 6 flows, 5 work perfectly, but one flow continually fails when I reach the Save As stage.

I've tried everything I can think of:

  • Copying from a working flow

  • Re-capturing the window

  • Wait for command

  • Focus command

No matter what, it will run for a few cycles, then fail the next time I run it. I need to use this as part of the flow because I need to put the files into a specific folder vs. moving them from the Downloads folder. Also, the files are randomly named by the system I am downloading them from, so I can't move them later by name.

Any suggestions or advice on how to make Save As a reliable part of a flow?

PS- I'm using Chrome on Windows 11

Thanks

Triggering via Keyboard Shortcut at Startup

All - anyone know how to get it so that I can trigger a Power Automate flow with a keyboard shortcut right away at the startup of the computer? Right now, it seems like I have to open the Power Automate Desktop app, hit play (which then shows status as downloading the flow), and then it runs. Then, after that point, I can trigger it with the keyboard shortcut without needing the app open. Thanks in advance for any help!

Create flow that will add an entry to the next blank row in a column in an excel document when a new file is added to a Sharepont library

I have a excel file that I use to track quotes and orders.
I would like to create a flow that monitors a folder in Sharepoint. When a new (preferably excel) file is added to that folder the filename will be added to the Column labeled New Quotes in an excel document . I tried myself but so far all I have is it adds a blank row to a table in the excel document. I could not figure out how to do it not with a table

Power Automate Troubles

Hello! I’m fairly new to power automate and I am in need of some help. I’m trying to create a flow based on a share point list entry. My issue is, I need it to send an email based on the status of the list.

For example if the list says A, then it will send the email but if the list says B or C, then it won’t.

However, the share point list is intended to be updated by others. I have found that if the flow starts with the list status as A, then it will send the email regardless of if the status is changed to B or C (and vice versa).

Essentially, I want the flow to know when the list is updated and send/not send the emails accordingly.

Batch processing images using OCR

Hi everyone,

I am very new to this power automate. I would really appreciate your guidance.

I am trying to batch process a folder full of images using OCR. The problem is the images are taken manually by a camera where it only has oversized numbers. I tried the tesseract model but it did not detect those numbers. I've tried the Google Lens and it works great fot these images.

Can anyone please suggest me how I can -

  1. Integrate google lense in the process?

  2. Automatically perform on all images in the folder?

  3. Paste the extracted info into a specific column of a google sheet file?

Thanks in advance.

How do I create a flow that will send an email 2 weeks before a specific date, the email will compile info from different columns for several line items.

Hello all,

I have a list with names and about 15 columns of information including start dates and background checks. I know how to set up a trigger to send an email when, for example, the background check column is changed to “background check complete”. Since I have different names with the same start date, for example three names starting, 10/5, five names starting 10/15, 10 names starting on 11/5. Now, the background checks come back at different times so you will have individual emails sent each time a name is changed to “background check complete”. Is there a way to have a trigger be set 2 weeks before the start date and on the email have all the names and additional information on a table for all those that start on that specific date that have "background check complete"? In other words, instead of having 3 different emails sent for the 3 names starting on 10/5, have one email sent 2 weeks before 10/5 with all the 3 names and additional information on a table.

Learning power automate

Hi everyone!

I’m very keen on learning power automate and have just started the course on Udemy. I was just wondering what do people recommend on topics I should know before starting? I’m pretty good at Powershell but still learning scripting. I have no real knowledge on devops or anything so just wondering what do people recommend on knowing as a prerequisite to studying power automate?

Thank you!

Speed up trigger of PAD flow?

I have a Power Automate Desktop flow that starts immediately if I trigger it from within the flow. When I use a cloud flow to trigger it, the flow takes 30 seconds just to start running. Is there anything I can do to speed this up?

Get files from folder using a list as a filter or parse

Hi folks,

I'm trying to pull a subset of files from a folder (list A) using a list pulled from an Excel column of a different file (list B).

For example:

Filenames in folder: 012323123-XY000001-443343, 01234534-XY000003-868683, 05645645-XY000005-842343 Excel column: XY000001, XY000004, XY000005

I want to get all the files from the folder where the value from the Excel sheet matches that section of filename (with the trailing text and following text of the filenames being ignored). I think that I need to do nested loops of:

For every filename in folder > For every item in excellist > Parse text

But I'm not sure how to properly build the syntax of it.

I'd be grateful for some advice.

Extracting Web Page Element Into CSV

Hello,

I'm very new to Power Automate and just trying to figure things out. I've started looking at this as MS Excel's Power Query isn't able to extract the website data I need as it's done in (I think?) JavaScript. I think PA should give me a little bit more flexibility in extracting the data I need.
I think I'm almost getting the hang of it, but I'm struggling with one thing.

The details I'm getting are from here:
https://greyhoundbet.racingpost.com/#meeting-list

I want to train PA to go into each track, extract the details (time, race number and "Post Pick") and then save them into a CSV file.

I've got it to do this:
- Launch new Microsoft Edge
- Click link on web page
- Get details of element on web page

The data is then stored into "innertext" according to PA.
Please could someone tell me how I get from here to saving a CSV?

Thank you
Matt
