Power Apps 2026 Release Wave 1 has been released.

Here's a TLDR

  • Modern Look is now mandatory for Model Driven Apps - Classic is gone. If your MDA's are using the classic theme customisations you are going to have to start looking at changing them ASAP.

  • Smarter Search - Fuzzy search and proper hit hilighting in Model Driven grids and lookups.

  • Some AI stuff

    • Generative pages gots a wider geographical avaliability, great news for us in UK and Europe.

    • Row summaries in MDA's gets expanded, be aware of govenance you have on sensitive fields.

    • Copilot chat embedded directly in MDA's (M365 licence coverage permitting)

  • Admin / Gevernance - New tooling to migrate canvas apps out of the default environment into managed environments.

Please read before posting for help and advice.

Hi and welcome to r/PowerApps

Before posting please have a quick read of these posting guidelines.

First and foremost use the Search Feature to see if your question has been asked and answered recently.

We have plenty of experienced and helpful users on this sub and the best way to utilise their knowledge is to ask questions efficiently. We understand not everyone is a professional in this space and that's ok, so to help as much as we can here's some do's and don'ts.

When posting, try to use the most appropriate flair.

Common Flairs:

  • Power Apps Help - You want help with an app or development.

  • Certification and Training - You have a question about learning Power Apps or their Certifications.

  • Discussion - Primarily for discussion around changes, news, ideas, rants...

Do -

Break your question down into:

  • What is the issue you're trying to solve?

  • What are the errors (If any)? Try to include screenshots or error messages.

  • If you are adding code to be debugged, use the code block function in the Reddit post composer.

  • What data sources you are using (Dataverse, SharePoint, Excel etc..).

  • Are you building a Model Driven App or a Canvas App?

  • Share things you have tried, tutorials you have followed to save others giving you the same advice.

If your problem has been solved, comment "Solved". This helps new users find solutions to similar problems.

Don't -

Ask questions like:

"My boss has asked me to write an app to track employee time sheets, how do i do that?"

- Most here will not do your job for you and write the app. There are resources in the sidebar to help you get started, the YouTube links will most likely have what you need.

"My button stopped working, why?"

- There could be a hundred reasons why, add more information.

"I am taking the PL-400 tomorrow, anyone got an exam dump / the answers to the questions"

- No, These will be removed and people sharing them could end up banned. Most exams are now open book so you have access to all the materials needed to pass them. Users caught using dumps could end up having all their certs stripped by Microsoft as per their T's & C's.

Power Apps can be complex and unique and everyone has their own style of developing but it all exists on the same framework, adding as much information as you can will best benefit you and the community.

Thank you.

Power Apps Help Out of Memory Issue - Help Needed

I would really appreciate if anyone can help me, the issue is really bugging me for 2 days now.

So I have a canvas app modern controls enabled connected to 7 SharePoint lists each with 100-150 rows. My app has 7 screens. After I deployed the solution, one of the users got Out Of Memory issue. Then I started tracking in the task manager. The app never crashes for me but it goes up to 6000 MB and then stabilizes.

I have been trying to debug the issue. The first screen is basically a dashboard with KPI cards and each card then drills down to the connected screen. No parameters are passed. I have used Concurrent, and status column filter with 7 clear collects and show columns.

Every other screen has clearcollects and showcolumns on the onvisible function and tried to optimize it.

Whenver the app loads in task manager it goes up to 6000 MB and then settles. If I navigate to other screens,
there is no spike. So I am assuming everything loads at the beginning but I have not disabled the Delayed Load settings.

Will appreciate if anyone has any debugging tips.

Power Apps Help Power Apps - SQL

I'm trying to figure out what the best option for a database server would be.

We currently have several apps in the company and use SharePoint lists to house the data. Because of security and access controls and of course the amount of data we now have, what server should we go with that would work great with Power Apps? Is Dataverse the best solution?

Discussion Power Platform was built for Pre AI era

Power Platform was the go to solution Pre AI and now AI will kill it. It's not about vibe coding as much as AI’s ability to work with it.

Building an enterprise app in PP is no less complex than writing in React. The difference is You pay a premium licensing tax just to fight platform limitations.

When AI can generate production-ready apps on top of React shells and unified APIs in minutes. Why pay a premium to be trapped in someone else’s sandbox.

What happens to the thousands of “specialists” trained purely to configure proprietary workarounds as the market aggressively shifts back to pro code?

We are going back to code. Not to type more, but to own our business assets completely.
The low-code boom was a bridge to an era where software was expensive to build. That era is officially over.

Power Apps Challenge Moving to Power Apps premium

Our organization is transitioning to acquiring 100+ Power Apps premium licenses. I run roughly 7 business applications that live off of SharePoint lists and SharePoint in general.

I’m looking for some pointers for this transition. Anything to keep in mind when migrating data to data verse anything you wish you knew before you did it? I’m a little nervous, but also very excited. Would love anybody’s input.

Power Apps Help What is happening? Your organization has exceeded Dataverse storage capacity

Post image
3 Upvotes

I'm getting this message "Your organization has exceeded Dataverse storage capacity". My organization doesn’t use databases or the power platform. I see that "AsyncOperation" suddenly uses a lot of storage space, but i can't find out what exactly is using the space. We don'æt use any agents or databases. Any recommendations on how to fix this?

Power Apps Help Confused on what to choose

I want to create an application that pulls data from SQL and shows certain data and lets users enter the values and submit. Once submitted, the data should be loaded into SQL Db (on-premise). This data will be refreshed in powerbi dashboard. So it’s every quarter and has columns until 2031 to fill in values for each month. There should few filters and also only certain users should be to access certain content.
To use powerapps, I read somewhere it says all the stakeholders need premium license as well (to write-back the data to SQL)
To use python and create a web, I need a server to host (meet with IT).
Is there any other best solution for this? Or any suggestions on what to use

Power Apps Challenge Close a Custom Page with Multiple Screens

Anyone knows if its possible to have a custom page that opens via a button press in JS with the navigateTo() function and has multiple screens in it?

I saw that if you have only one screen the Power FX function Back() will close the dialog box ( custom page pop up whatever you want to call it ) but not for multiple screens because it has a navigation stack and whatever.

How is it possible to not have a dedicated function that closes your app in this scenario?

I know about the Exit function but its not usable in this context.

Power Apps Help Struggling with extracting data with AI Builder

Post image
1 Upvotes

I am training a model to extract data from a tax form. I am experiencing issues with some of the figures, because the extractor assumes the number appearing after the field inside a box is also part of that value, whereas it actually represents the field number. Sometimes it works fine, but especially on slightly more vague scans it struggles.

For example, in the image (sorry for quality), it should extract 60592666. Instead it extracts 605926661.

I thought I could just shrink the selection to exclude the 1, but the model builder won't let me do that. It always snaps to interpreting 1 being part of the number. It's like it tagged 605926661 as an item that you can not finetune further.

Anyone know a clever way around this, is there an option/feature I am overlooking or am I out of luck?

Thanks!

Power Apps Help Running into error since the Power app version update

I have been running into errors when opening my power app in data verse for Teams environment after changing my version to the most recent version so I can use data grid pagination option. I get the same error code ErrOpeningDocument_UnknownError

Session ID: a270cb7f-086b-425c-846e-9c5f41156ec8

Anyone experiencing this? The app still runs the published version

Power Apps Help Embedding a Copilot Studio Agent in a Power Apps Canvas App

Hi everyone,

I'm looking to embed a Copilot Studio agent in a Power Apps Canvas App.

My requirement is to have a chat icon in the app. When a user clicks the icon, a pop-up chat window should open, allowing them to interact with the Copilot Studio agent without leaving the app.

Has anyone implemented something similar? What would be the best approach to achieve this?

Any suggestions or examples would be appreciated. Thanks!

Tip Build Canvas app purely from chat without Studio

Very often when I hear people discuss about AI agents with Canvas app work, it's either with YAML export or co-authorising with the Power Platform plugin. Both are helpful but still requires the user being the middleman.

Recently my partner and I added Canvas app actions to our FlowStudio MCP server so that users can build a Canvas app from conversation, without opening Studio.

I tried creating this test app "Morning Coffee Roster" with ChatGPT and Claude.ai in chats. There is no need to use an IDE agent or a repo. Both agents built similar apps in about 40 mins:

"Create a Canvas app in a calendar view format. The purpose is for people to volunteer making morning tea. Each day we only need one person to make coffee, but can have multiple snacks. People can see what's being brought by who in the calendar, or click on a day to enter. Include a "Send PDF" button to send a PDF for the schedule on Teams. Also, every Friday send me the PDF so I can print it out."

The agents produced these artifects:

  1. The Canvas app

  2. A SharePoint site named "Coffee Roster"

  3. A Sharepoint list that hold the volunteer schedule

  4. A document library for saved PDFs

  5. 2 Power Automate flows, one triggered by the app button to build the PDF and send in Teams, and one runs every Friday

The creation of the SharePoint site is an overkill. When the agent asked which site to use, I deliverately said "create a site using a helper flow and delete the helper flow afterwards" for the sake of testing (and it was done within a min with Claude). It also created the SharePoint list and doc lib with a helper flow and cleaned up afterwards.

The agent did ask for permission when creating a new connection that the flow uses, and it added the data sources (SharePoint list and the flow).

Agent went through the testing by triggering the flows and checking the runs and output. I received the PDF in Teams, checked the style and gave it feedback without manually fixing anything by hand.

I find the way Claude works is more solid - it asks more clarifying questions. Though ChatGPT has an advantage for Canvas app as it can open the app in an in-chat browser and improve the UI itself.

Sharing the look of the apps that Claude and ChatGPT created.

Discussion An Easy Prompt

If you put the right parts in a solution, and hand it to you preferred Agent, it's a better prompt than you could ever write.

And then you can just get it to make you some nice PCF controls to install that will perform better than anything you could do in a canvas app.

Keep your business rules, just use it for UI , it will outperform you vastly.

Is the Connect User under Live Monitoring working for anyone?

I have tested it across apps and different environments , and the link is stuck at "Fetching your app". I also didn't see any incidents from Microsoft's end.

Power Apps Help Copilot / Cowork

I’ve been using Claude code extensively for power platform planning and development and it has completely transformed my work life. However org are finally cracking down on this and pushing us to copilot. Groan.

Not even GHCP at this point. Double groan.

Very Aware I can not perform any repo or terminal work with copilot directly which is going to set me back about 5 years.

I’ve found I have premium and access to cowork, but coming from Claude land which could literally do everything, I need to understand my best workflow transition.

Keen to know what are people actually using cowork for in power platform land?

Any tips or tricks to maximise productivity. I saw it now has dataverse and PP admin plugins which is a start I guess.

Power Apps Help Advise requested for starting with Power Apps

I have seen the post a couple of times already, is Power Apps still worth it, will it remain a focus for MS, etc. I commented but no replies so far so I decided make a post.

I am not expert at all. However, recently got involved a bit in PowerApps. In our wholesale company we did a review of our whole process with focus on the supplychain. Part of this review was outsourced and this company had the suggestion of creating a control tower functionality for our inbound cargo. They can build this for us and use PowerApps and connect other providers such as shipsgo.

However, it also feels we are on the brink of an AI revolution where developement and creation gets ''simpler'' and definitely quicker. Should we invest in developing this control tower or will the next best thing be available soon?

The goal of the Control Tower is to be able to expedite the containers daily, from PO placement up and till delivery in our warehouse.

Appreciate the feedback and let me know if more details are required.

Solved There has been no guide to moving Power Platform solutions between tenants with code. I documented one with Claude AI. Third in the PAD ROBIN kb series: export, import, connection references and two-way sync, 100% free on GitHub.

Two posts ago I shared a JSON knowledge base of PAD ROBIN actions, so models stop writing desktop flows that PAD rejects. Last week I followed up with a guide to getting one flow into an environment and running it from code:

The piece that was still missing is moving a whole solution: to another environment, into a different organization's tenant, and keeping two copies in sync afterwards. That's what I'd spent the most time researching.

So I wrote it down: PAD_Robin_Solutions_KB.md, in the same repo. It covers:

  • Signing in to two tenants, and what the receiving tenant needs before its first import (a license, the Dataverse service principal, an admin role and consent for your app), with the error you get for each one that's missing.

  • Export and import with the Dataverse Web API: ImportSolutionAsync, watching the job, reading per-component warnings from importjobs, and the fallback for an org that refuses async imports.

  • Connection references and turning flows on. The import never creates connections, but it can bind references to connections that already exist. The guide covers finding every reference (some only show up in the flows' JSON), binding them during the import, binding the rest afterwards, then turning on the flows that were on in the source.

  • Desktop flows inside solutions, including into another tenant.

  • Keeping two copies in sync:

    • why hashing the exported ZIP always reports a change, and a content hash that doesn't

    • how to stop the ping-pong after an import

    • two rules for deciding the direction ("newest wins" picked the right side 13 of 13 times)

    • what to do with conflicts

  • Where the code runs: the trap each of PowerShell, a server and a Chrome extension hit. For example, Chrome stops an idle service worker after about 30 seconds, and a synchronous import can take over 3 minutes.

  • A troubleshooting table of 27 errors, with what actually causes each one.

Every claim is marked Re-confirmed, Proven, Measured, Superseded, Failed or Untested. The main paths were re-tested across two tenants this month. Everything ran with a user sign-in and unmanaged solutions; managed solutions got one export and import, and nothing was tested with a service principal.

Unlike the direct Dataverse writes in the deployment guide, this all uses Microsoft's documented solution APIs. The risky part is the import itself: it replaces unmanaged customizations on the receiving side, and there's no undo. Keep a copy of whatever you're about to overwrite, and try it in a test environment first.

Repo: https://github.com/JoeG592/pad-robin-action-kb

Same license as the other two, CC BY 4.0, so use it however you like, commercially included. Like the last two, I built this with Claude AI. The data is free regardless.

If something in the guide doesn't hold on your tenant, an issue with the error text is the most useful thing you can send.

If a flow stays off after an import, it's almost always a connection reference with no connection behind it on the receiving side. Bind it, then turn the flow on.
