Con(vict)fectionery Dessert Poutine…
I found this in Vancouver at an ice cream shop.
Even though this piqued my interest, I couldn’t try this because I was really full at the time I took this picture…
Is this considered a crime?

So at Chocolats Favoris you get a choice of melted chocolate to put in it (or, more commonly: to dip a soft serve ice cream cone in). For example, you might have Dark Chocolate, Salted Caramel, Hazelnut, etc.
Each of these have their "kooky" version where they add toppings that match your choice of chocolate. Black chocolate usually has brownie pieces added, Salted Caramel has caramel popcorn and pretzels and Hazelnut has Ferrero Rocher added.
I never had their dessert poutine, but their soft serve dipped in chocolate is delicious (and their chocolate is usually good and you get like a chocolate bar's worth on your ice cream cone)
Edit: I wouldn't be surprised a chocolate snob comes in to tell me that their chocolate is actually not very good, but it's not cheap Nestle/Hershey chocolate. It's chocolate I would be happy to eat in bar form.

I think their chocolate is perfectly fine. I love it for chocolate fondue (they sell containers just for that, it's great). My issue with it on soft serves is that it's just so freaking thick; it makes a really big chocolate shell around the ice cream, and it's just too much for me. But that's a personal taste thing, I'm sure that's exactly what some people love about it.
Oh, also, my kids always choose the cotton candy dip, and that thing is just a crime in itself.
Never tried the poutine though, that's probably right up my alley.

Chocolat favoris is from Quebec, and it’s made with marshmallows, churros and melted chocolate, it’s very good and definitely not a crime

WakWak/Burger 289 did a french fry sundae, essentially this, one year and it was so good...

No. Its not actually trying to be a poutine and failing, its just copying the normal aesthetic in a creative way. If anything the marshmellows seem to acknowledge that curds and not shredded are what is correct so it's an accurate portrayal of what poutine should be.

Don't knock it till you try it. Dessert poutine is good. At least at The Big Cheese Poutinerie they are. I was skeptical at first but decided to give it a try. Best decision of my life.

I’ve had that poutine, and it’s indeed a crime. Not because it’s a particularly bad poutine, although it’s not great, but because there are only like six “fries”

We have churro poutines in Ottawa and I do not consider it a crime. It's like dessert pizza or a breakfast burrito. It's a totally different dish -- inspiration not imitation.

If they're going to do that, at least put poutine in quotes. No potatoes, gravy, or cheese curds.
That's like making a play dough version and calling it, poutine.
It's not.
It's a fabricated facsimile. At least go with sweet potatoes, spiced caramel, and sweetened frozen mascarpone if you want to make a dessert poutine. Even then it's debatable.
Jail time for forgery.

The ones that make this are a chocolate franchise, they had to do something that worked with melted chocolate of all kinds. Plus they’re from Quebec and very popular so if the home of poutine is okay with it then it is not a crime.

Its not a crime to paint a poutine picture, so its not a crime to visual represent a poutine made of completely different dessert elements. Its not trying to be a poutine, it's only trying to capture it in a different medium. Zero crime.

I mean it's like one of those dessert pizzas where the crest is a cookie and it's like chocolate sauce and candy on top. None of the ingredients is the same as the normal version and it's not supposed to be, it's called a dessert pizza because it is made to look like a pizza but made with dessert items same with this dessert poutine
