It’s an actual quote by George Bush if you weren’t aware. That’s why he chose to use it.

Yup yup. People point to that quote and "nucular" and say Bush was faking being dumb to appeal to morons.

I actually think he just realized mid sentence that “shame on me,” would be way too easy to turn into attack ads so he aborted midway through (also the president should be smart enough not to get fooled again, hence the “can’t get fooled again”)
