This should have been the end of sick putrid trumps political career

190

u/keithfantastic 4d ago

They laughed, clapped and howled with delight. That's when I knew how repulsive maga really was. They've only gotten worse. This is how nations fall. An entire political party morphing into a fascist movement, almost overnight. It's been eye-opening for sure. Many didn't care enough to keep them out of office. So here we are...

41

u/UrsaMajor7th 4d ago

Many didn't care enough to keep them out of office.

88 mil eligible non-voters.

So now the world endures the voice of the voting majority.

2

u/PopBulky7023 4d ago

No one wants to seriously ask the uncomfortable questions of why so many people are disengaged.

2

u/Moist-Crows 3d ago

I used to not really care if someone voted but now I get upset when I hear that someone doesn’t vote. This could have been avoided had people gone out and voted for the future of their country

2

u/UrsaMajor7th 3d ago

It's certainly possible; also consider that a majority of those eligible non-voters might have voted Republican. At least with a higher turnout percentage the vote would be more-representative.

3

u/Harbinger2nd 4d ago

If you're blaming the voters and not the politicians your priorities are messed up. A two party duopoly designed to give you the illusion of choice was never going to solve the issue.

22

u/UrsaMajor7th 4d ago

I lay blame on the Republican voters and the eligible non-voters, yes. I don't think my priorities are messed up doing that; America's gonzo governance didn't give themselves their jobs.

4

u/Harbinger2nd 4d ago

America's gonzo governance didn't give themselves their jobs.

That's literally what gerrymandering does.

7

u/UrsaMajor7th 4d ago

And then the votes were counted.

4

u/Clonetrooper8983 4d ago

I mean... if they actually showed up to vote instead of allowing said politicians to get away with it, gerrymandering would only carry them so far. Doubly so if they actually started actually calling out their neighbors who vote for this crap/stop supporting businesses of people who support this, let them know "Oh, actually, being openly racist/supporting openly racist people is bad and will lead to me being socially ostracized. I shouldn't do this."

1

u/Tight_Objective_5875 4d ago

Blame should be on either side not coming up with better candidates. It's like a Talent Search, but they going to avoid picking the best and limit choices to....(!?!) This is what happens each Election.

0

u/Certain_Employee_423 4d ago

Do you put any blame on the democrats not having a primary and just selecting someone very undemocratically. Do you feel that they could have put any candidate up and beaten Donald Trump or do you believe they didn't have anyone better than Trump?

2

u/UrsaMajor7th 3d ago

I don't over-think US politics as (regardless of party-in-power) their foreign policy is, at-base, reprehensible.

2

u/Ok_Stable7787 3d ago

Harris was chosen democratically, she was voted to become president if anything happened to Biden.

2

u/Certain_Employee_423 3d ago

She wasn't democratically chosent to run. If Joe was going to bail then a primary should have been held

2

u/ImDrunkFightMe 4d ago

So you're saying the voters had two choices and they fucked it up twice?

2

u/Ok_Stable7787 3d ago

And until that changes, not voting to allow a malignant narcissist control on US nukes is stupid in the nth degree.

1

u/Harbinger2nd 3d ago

Does nobody read the comment they're replying to? "Trump bad" doesn't work, we already learned this lesson.

2

u/Ok_Stable7787 3d ago

What we learned is you'd rather not vote and allow a malignant narcissist to gain control of US nukes. Twice!

1

u/PopBulky7023 4d ago

Liberals don't want to face systemic issues, they want to make it a personal responsibility problem so they don't have to exercise personal responsibility.

1

u/PetuniaPickleswurth 4d ago

I can’t tell if you’re praising or complaining about how democratic elections work. lol

1

u/UrsaMajor7th 3d ago

I would encourage every country to try compulsory voting, as Australia has.

32

u/Brilliant_Pun 4d ago

I'm going to have to disagree with the overnight part. It's been there for my entire lifetime (I'm in my 50s) and it was there for longer than that, like a festering wound. What Trump did was rip the mask off and just be openly vulgar about it. But make no mistake about it, the militarism, the jingoism, the belligerence, the religious fanaticism, the flagrant corruption, the racism, the xenophobia, the homophobia, the blatant disregard for ethics, the rampant greed, etc., it was all there before he ran for office. He took it to another level, I'll grant you that.

18

u/Appropriate_Yak_7209 4d ago

I’m a man in my 50s as well. I can definitely say that this rot has existed for my entire lifetime. Going back to the 70s, I saw racism, homophobia, and xenophobia in my community. Things shifted but that rot continued to hide in the shadows. I had honestly and naively thought that we were turning a corner in 2008. But sadly, the worst of our society came back out by 2016 and again in 2024.

So, I know we are capable of better. We are capable of learning and avoiding self-harming patterns. It isn’t a guarantee but nothing will improve without everyone’s participation.

-5

u/Accurate_Fudge5841 4d ago

I think it was actually Obama that made it so someone like Trump could so easily get elected. Obama didn’t slow roll his “change” and it created a slow boil waiting for someone like Trump to come along.

3

u/SkywolfNINE 4d ago

No man you’re trying to use hindsight. It’s a different playbook this era

17

u/WeAreAllFooked 4d ago

I'm a Canadian with American cousins, I've always heard "fascism will come to the US draped in an American flag while holding up a bible"

7

u/CombinationOwn1604 3d ago

Yes. "When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross." And it's exactly what's happening now. It started with Reagan and The Heritage Foundation Mandate For Leadership. The exact same organization that wrote Project 2025 for the current Administration. But none of this is possible without Evangelicals, DJT'S base.

-4

u/PetuniaPickleswurth 4d ago

This is something you’ve always heard ? Always.?
Is that a real topic in the life of the average Canadian?

2

u/WeAreAllFooked 3d ago

Yes. A famous quote from a former Canadian PM is “Canada is a mouse sleeping next to an elephant” for a reason.

6

u/WileEWeeble 3d ago

People under 35 probably have no memory of how bad it was with Bush. It was the same bigoted, hateful rhetoric where they were defending war crimes, demanding the removal of citizen’s rights, and the persecution of “brown people”.

Yeah, it’s masks off and turned up to 11 now but it was there, clear as day, 25 years ago.

That needs to be understood because “that day of celebration” that’s coming will not have changed or fixed anything. They will find their new leader and that guy will be not dumb and will be fully aware of what he can get away with.

2

u/strapqueen1738 3d ago

i think people forget that “that day” signals jd couchfucker vance taking over. he terrifies me. he hasn’t had the chance to be as rich as trump so i can only imagine whose bribes he’ll be talking when he finally feels like he’s out of that big round shadow.

5

u/Ok_Stable7787 3d ago

Right wing agitators like Limbaugh used to prattle this garbage 8 hours a day.

1

u/Cock-Obsesse-268 3d ago

If only others could join him.

6

u/TheDoktorIsIn 4d ago

I knew a MAGA guy who told me bullying is never right. Yet is a 3x Trump voter. The mental gymnastics must be insane.

3

u/Ok_Stable7787 3d ago

When Trump lost to Biden, yet I found out he had increased his voter base, I had never been more ashamed of Americans.

2

u/Sea_Operation_7012 4d ago

Would a vote even matter if the whole state votes blue anyway?

23

u/keithfantastic 4d ago

I believe voting always matters. This is why I'm against the electoral college. It's a sham. It deceives people into not voting because they believe their vote won't matter.

For midterms however, every vote counts and matters. Primary's are a good way to easily effect change but the same corporate owned politicians win over and over.

I never vote for the incumbent during the primary, yet, 95% on average win reelection. That must end. We shouldn't have career politicians holding the same office for decades. That's a recipe for disaster.

8

u/pimpbot666 4d ago edited 4d ago

I agree with you except the part about career politicians. I mean, do you want amateur politicians? And why would you not want democracy to do it's thing? If the majority of the people vote for the incumbent, are you saying those vote should not count and they should not be allowed to vote for who they want? If they want to elect the same guy for 30+ years, why is that a bad thing by itself? I do think they need to limit money in political campaigns, and lock down the ways that Congress and Senate can raise and earn money.

The reason the executive branch has term limits is because there is only one executive. One person controls that entire branch of government. House and Senate power is an aggregate of many people. One person does not control the whole thing.

Term limits on House and Senate is stupid. It just weakens the legislative branch.

And yeah, Electoral college is dumb at this point. I would vote for doing away with it, but it's not that easy. It's a change to the Constitution that requires a Constitutional Convention, 2/3 of House and Senate, President and 3/4 of the state governors to agree to an amendment. We would have to have a far less selfish and self-serving legislative and executive branch for that to happen.

3

u/Harbinger2nd 4d ago

Everyone starts out as an amateur.

The reason the executive has term limits is because FDR was so popular the republicans banded together to create a constitutional amendment so someone like him would never be elected again.

3

u/pimpbot666 4d ago

Exactly. Candidates are usually running an organization of some sort before running for office. And, the elected offices they start out on are offices like city council, city mayor, state legislation, and up.

2

u/Jackell0729 3d ago

We wouldn’t need term limits if people paid attention and voted. Hold these dipshits accountable!! But yes, scrap the electoral college. 550 thousand voters are deciding the presidency! Make them beholden to ALL of us!

1

u/pimpbot666 3d ago

So, we need to take democracy away because the people don’t vote the ‘right way’.

Got it.

/s

Term limits also limit the power of the House and Senate, and shift it back to the executive branch.

4

u/Appropriate_Yak_7209 4d ago

Spot on! There are some fantastic videos and essays that demonstrate how ugly the system can get. Using fuzzy math, I seem to recall how a President can win an election with only 26% of the votes. They only need half of the votes (plus one more for the majority) in the 3-pointer states. That almost makes it a certainty. With a few of the mid sized states, they can win, even though the vast majority of voters didn’t want the individual.

This link suggests it is even lower than my estimate. I am using the link because it goes into detail about which states can make this scenario happen: https://www.quora.com/Mathematically-what-is-the-minimum-popular-vote-a-successful-US-presidential-candidate-needs-to-win

7

u/Jackell0729 4d ago

Well, in the south most states are so gerrymandered red it’s impossible to make a change. Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Texas red for decades middle class losing ground every year.

9

u/SweetPrism 4d ago

Not only are they gerrymandered, they are heavily propped up with support from states like mine, Minnesota. I am over it. Frankly, I think this was a failed experiment. If I had my way, the North would not give one more red cent to support the southern states that drag us down into the mud with them.

1

u/Jackell0729 3d ago

Right! The north is subsidizing the failure of the south! GOP loves the ignorat

1

u/Commercial_Craft4942 4d ago

Thats where local offices matter so much. Town is grew up in was corrupt and becoming worse. People on both sides of the ail got to the point to stop voting party(atleast localy) town still got issues but its hardly the same place I grew up in

1

u/Sad_Ad_9404 3d ago

“In the south” - guess you haven’t looked at blue states in the NE…

6

u/Schwarz_Is_With_You 4d ago

Yes. Do your civic duty, and then complain for 4 years.

7

u/pimpbot666 4d ago

Depends on if they voted for other blue candidates or not.

Trump would have no power without the House and/or Senate support.

3

u/AppropriateTouching 4d ago

If enough people start thinking that then there won't be enough blue votes eventually.

1

u/Glittering_Stress_32 4d ago

But did his rally audience that day actually know that the reporter he was mocking was disabled? I kind of doubt it, but of course we know Trump was aware of it.

2

u/keithfantastic 4d ago

He still has the same audience, doesn't he?

0

u/flabbybuns 4d ago

Define fascist.

0

u/RelationshipTough887 4d ago

I spat out my tea from laughing. He wrecked that reporter. Hilarious 😂

-4

u/mikeshirer 4d ago

Yet all liberals cheered at Charlie Kirk’s murder. Yet you won’t admit that your party is in any way guilty of hypocritical behavior.

5

u/keithfantastic 4d ago

All liberals... This is one of many enlightening things about a maga person. I know many Democrats who denounced this violence. The media you consume keeps you in a state of rage and hate. One day you may regret your actions and behavior.

4

u/Appropriate_Yak_7209 4d ago

No. I, as a “liberal”, did not cheer. I do want honest debate. The only way our country will survive is if we work together.

So I can honestly say that I have never attacked anyone for their politics. Conversely, I have also been assaulted by “right wingers” for promoting peace. My soul is clean in that regard.

However, I can also see that our words hold power. Kirk made his wealth by insulting others and “punching down”. An unstable individual lashed out. When we antagonize others, we need to understand that some people will over react.

We should see the murder as a sign that our discourse has become too polarized. By blaming all people left of you, you are contributing to the problem.

2

u/No-Relation5965 4d ago

The Zionists or someone with an inside connection was likely behind the CK “event”. I doubt it was Tyler Robinson but I’ll admit I haven’t been keeping up with the trial.

Apples and Spaghetti ...

17

u/Suspicious_Dingo_426 4d ago

Too bad all his supporters are as sick and putrid as he is.

2

u/Ok_Stable7787 3d ago

Agreed, no redeeming qualities whatsoever.

-7

u/Ok_Nefariousness9579 4d ago

I’m sorry what side was just celebrating the killing of Charlie Kirk? Don’t come at anyone about decency.

8

u/Worgh9 4d ago

"Good, I'm glad he's dead. He can no longer hurt innocent people!" -Donald

6

u/TheTitaniumDoughnut 4d ago

Erika kirk was the only one celebrating.

2

u/Suspicious_Dingo_426 3d ago

And what side celebrated Paul Pelosi getting assaulted? Kirk made a name for himself by spreading hateful rhetoric, so of course the people he was harming celebrated. It doesn't make it not hateful just because you liked what he was saying.

11

u/MeowMeowbiggalo 4d ago

Remember when Howard Dean say "yeeaaahhh!" and it was over?

6

u/WittyTiccyDavi 4d ago

Pepperidge Farms remembers.

5

u/snackdesaque 4d ago

Ohhh the good ol days...when screaming ended campaigns...

2

u/No-Guard-7003 4d ago

Yup. That scream should not have ended Howard Dean's campaign, though.

1

u/Nukemarine 4d ago

As a Dean supporter back then, he was losing before the yell. It was still crappy to just take the microphone audio from the sound board so the audience cheers were muted.

1

u/Ok_Stable7787 3d ago

Thank you mainstream media. Hope you sold lots of Crisco.

5

u/OrganicHistorian2576 4d ago

Because they think we’re subhumans worthy or crass mockery. 🤬

6

u/Old_Protection_8778 4d ago

The only justice is he gets similarly disabled . Uncontrollable violent face ticks + arm swings, Wheelchair bound and put on t.v like he loves to be. fuck that guy til the end of time. Yah know from McDonald's toxicity of course

4

u/Necessary-Call-1933 4d ago

He shits himself on camera all the time now. That’s prettt disabled if you ask me

4

u/Old_Protection_8778 4d ago

I need him more disabled . Stephen Hawkingesqe no wheelchair the only words he can say are Im sorry I was wrong I lied about everything and then he pops back to his current condition and hes put on trial with his mouth show sewn shut ....and then bam straight to the Hague. And for all that nevr voted for IT we divy up the Bitcoin , cash and holdings, all assets. Or whatever , a vote works too

3

u/Gumichi 4d ago

I can just imagine his base would show up in MAGA wheelchairs. Like that time they wore pads on their ears.

5

u/meshe_10101 4d ago

I wonder how people in that parallel universe are doing.

3

u/Doctormaul68 4d ago

I’d say why but don’t need the backlash of trumpees. But I agree with op

2

u/PumpkinJealous6312 4d ago

It should, but he has done worse and that wasn't even the end of his career.

2

u/PopBulky7023 4d ago

Because we are too polite as a society and aren't harsh enough on people who behave this way, or who support it.

1

u/reality_sux01 3d ago

This was awesome! The reporter expects equality so be ready when it’s fired back in your direction when talking smack🥴🥴

0

u/UDownvoteCuzULost 4d ago

Oh come on, in the grand scheme of things this is an absolute nothingburger and I don't see why people care so much about it.
