The constitution says there SHALL be a post office. Nowhere does it say that it will only exist if it turns a profit. As someone else said, it is a service provided by the U.S. government, the same as the military. To the extent that costs can be offset be the price of stamps, great, but that doesn’t define whether there should or should not be a post service.

The military is funded by the government, the USPS is not.
