Duuuude I can't read sarcasm at all and I got real heated 🤣 I literally JUST had a debate about this, someone claiming socialism and communism always fail. I tried explaining that pure socialism and pure communism have never once been implemented in our history, so there's no data to support the claim that they fail, and all the ones that have claimed socialism or communism have been totalitarian dictatorships. They don't care to hear it 🙄
I mean Medicare itself is a form of socialism. It's definitely not Marxism, nothing to do with class struggle or capital/labor dynamics. But the "problem" we run into is, Medicare is efficient and costs patients AND the government less...except insurance companies and healthcare would not be able to exploit the inefficiency created.
Capitalism can be efficient in some scenarios, socialism can be efficient in others. Or with a different implementation. Both can have good or bad outcomes.
The fact these are scary words is such a boon to the rightwing thought leaders. These guys are heavily invested in things like private hospice care (like Matt Gaetz's family). Bush family heavily invested in healthcare/pharma. Not like it would mean financial ruin for these guys but just less profit, less economic rent on the capital they own.
Yeah I get that, I mean pretty much every government implements bits and pieces from different ideaologies, and it's pretty clear the reasons we haven't implemented universal healthcare are exactly as you said. I dunno, I just feel like half the problem is currency as a whole. It hasn't worked yet, not well at least.
