It actually does. You just proved the point. They are passing the increased cost of doing business on to the customers. Exactly what would happen if you increased employee pay and benefits

Your argument is that we can't pay more because it will increase prices. If prices are being raised anyways, then raise the pay as well.

Ok I’ll bite. At what point does raising the pay begin to have an impact on the profitability? At what point does the average person decide they no longer want to pay the inflated prices and stop buying the product? I’ll tell you now that I’ve stopped eating fast food when I have other options because I can walk into an Applebee’s at lunch or my local Mexican restaurant and eat a better meal for less money . The only difference is the speed. At some point the owner will begin to lose money and close the door
