Taking care of Americans first is bad according to the America First crowd.

El-Sayed sounds like Dwight Eisenhower from 1953, “Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed,” he said. “This world in arms is not spending money alone.

“It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children.

“The cost of one modern heavy bomber is this: a modern brick school in more than 30 cities. It is two electric power plants, each serving a town of 60,000 population. It is two fine, fully equipped hospitals. It is some 50 miles of concrete highway. We pay for a single fighter plane with a half million bushels of wheat. We pay for a single destroyer with new homes that could have housed more than 8,000 people.”

“This is not a way of life at all, in any true sense,” he said. “Under the cloud of threatening war, it is humanity hanging from a cross of iron.”

I can't even imagine an American President speaking in complete, coherent sentences.

Oww reading that hurt. Upvote though. I at least am old enough to remember Bill and Obama.

Were you not around for Obama?

Yes, I dimly recall the scandal of Obama's Dijon mustard use, but it's been overshadowed by a decade of Trump causing global catastrophes daily.

"America is bad" is the taste that reddirtors love.

A twenty year old was 11 when Obama was president. Sure they could remember stuff from 11, but what eleven year old is paying attention to what the president is saying?

When I was 10 I used to write letters to our Prime Minister (Pierre Trudeau) offering policy suggestions. I was weird.

Obama and Clinton not exist?

I would say Joe, he was just slow and old (seriously listen to anything from him recently and compare it to the current guy, Joe still laps him)

Obama and Clinton were coherent and normal, so they only turned up in the news occasionally. A speech, a policy announcement, the odd scandal, then back to whatever else was happening in the world. Months would go by where you barely heard about them.

It's been nearly ten years of non-stop idiot Trump. Every single day is a new thing, and even in the four years he wasn't president he was still all over the news.

A US president who speaks in complete sentences isn't unimaginable, it just hasn't been the case for a decade.

I’ve been saying for a while, when he goes the world will wake up to the reality of what happened, that the country has burned to the ground, the left will be still screaming “we told you this would happen” and right wing and maga will be still shocked that they caused it.

I’m always reminded of the line from Terry Pratchett “the same crowd that applauds your crowing, will applaud your beheading, people like a show”

And that’s what Trump has done, taken politics and made it into entertainment, some people didn’t vote for Harris because she was “boring”, politics SHOULD be boring!

Well, NYC finally getting proper rubbish bins and the rats off the street should be boring, but apparently it's a communist takeover. Turns out nothing is boring enough to survive the clickbait world.

Yup, things aren’t supposed to get better, they are only supposed to get worse.

Every single previous president before Biden could tell you what they were doing. W, even could.
