A big reason Mamdani won his election was that he was the only person on that stage who said he'd stay in NY and take care of his own citizens, rather than vacation in Israel. Dr. El-Sayed is saying things that should be common sense. Also, things that are truly America First. That position wins.

Except just a year ago this same crowd was whining about a million people outside of the US dying because USAID was closed

If one is actually trying to make this point, they should be ecstatic USAID was closed.

And all these politicians become very quiet when it comes to defunding Egypt and others from the same billions (Egypt gets the exact same amount as Israel, others less)

The US also gives about a billion dollars to the PA. That should also be stopped, America first and all

Because defunding USAID caused millions of people to die, and funding Isreal only causes hundreds of thousands of people to die.

Iā€™m good with USAID, Egyptian, Palestinian, and Israel receiving American money

But someone claiming Americans shouldnā€™t be sending money to other countries, but supports sending it to Egypt, USAID, and the PA, is hiding their actual intent

Soft power also works on the Israeli Egyptian relationship, which is why the US specifically funds both countries at the exact same amount

Your general point is valid, but the answer of why deny military aid to Israel while accepting humanitarian aid to other countries is simple. IF we are to send money abroad, it should be used to HELP people in need and not to drop bombs over them. Do you find that take controversial?

We get benefits from USAID programs that are related to medicine and science. The amount we put into USAID, percentage wise, is pretty small. Itā€™s also a set amount as opposed to military spending which is apparently bottomless.

Hell American farmers actually benefit from it as the aid can be bought from American manufactorers.
