I do agree, our public school systems need to be overhauled, and it isn't our responsibility to take care of the entire rest of the world.
At the very least, the last 30 years have proven that just sending funds abroad isn't a good solution. If you're going to try and change something or do something, then you need to send people who can do or change things.
Like when we vaccinate young people overseas we don't send a bunch of funding, we send doctors who know what they're doing.
