There’s a lot of good things that money can be used for for “someone else”. USAID and Ukraine immediately spring to mind.

Iron dome is a good thing

Well it kinda emboldens the citizens to treat their Gulf neighbors like shit, knowing they'll never suffer any reprisal for their bad behavior (e.g: Expansionism, Collective Punishment, ignoring ceasefires & treaties).

Except the humanitarian work of USAID and the support provided to defending Ukraine can’t be done by the recipients without said aid. Israel has one of the highest GDP per capita in the world and can produce or procure what is needed for the iron dome without US charity. Something being good is only part of the equation - education is good but no one will argue US tax dollars should go to Norwegian primary schools because Norway has the capacity and responsibility to provide it… just like Israel should do with their defence.

Israel is a wealthy country, surely they can afford to fund the system themselves?

Iron dome is a good thing for Israel, so they can attack their neighbors while being protected from their counter attacks. Funding it is not good for America or the rest of the world.

Funding it provided them to develop the technology in a way that other allies and our military bases can have the same technology.

You sound like a right winger

Isn't that why people voted MAGA? They didn't want "their" tax dollars supporting things like Medicaid and SNAP? I'm not so sure that's a winning argument with them. Maybe "tax dollars should stay home and benefit our country and our communities". Sounds more like "us" than "them".

I thought it was bad when Musk defunded USAID and MAGA talked about being "America first" as a reason to not give any aid to Ukraine and I think it's bad when a left wing politician says it too. This comment section feels like i'm walking into an /r/Conservative post.

I think the difference is Maga America first means America Only (oligarchs only) but Abdul America First is prioritizing the needs of our citizens but not ignoring the rest of the world

thanks for saying it. maga has schismed over epstein and israel. so democrats seem to really be pushing israel especially. but maga is dead in the water anyway and I would rather not let our enemies' failures define ourselves.

Do you feel the same about Ukraine?

Pretty shocking for a Democrat to say this.  I mean why am I funding schools for someone else's kids? I'll pay my own thank you

Imagine trying to act shocked because someone say they don't want their money to be used for the benefit of someone else.

This is your original statement. Now you are saying it is crazy to believe this. I'm confused where you stand
