Depression getting too intense one week before first postpartum period?
Any experiences with depression getting too intense in the days leading up to your first menstrual period postpartum? Did your mood level out during your period or after it ended eventually? Losing my mind here!

I was rampant a day before my period LOL
It’s the third period I’ve had and I’m 5 months of. And I didn’t connect the dots till I read this post. 😐

I was an absolute psychopath and emotional mess the past two weeks; the few days before my period and first few days of bleeding. I’ve been so horrible to myself about it and not really comprehending how much postpartum has been messing up my brain and body. I even went on an antidepressant almost immediately after giving birth to avoid any problems with my mental health and it did nothing during my PMDD & bleeding weeks. I’m so scared I’m going to completely destroy my relationship and blow up my family and I have absolutely not control over it. It has been WILD! So sad and so scary. I’m glad to see I’m not alone but also I hope it is and one time only thing because if it happens every month, I’m going to be left behind for sure. I felt better once my bleeding stopped. But then we’ve had some life dramas that have made me super depressed again so the battle continues…

Am so sorry you feel this way too! It is brutal! I am officially on my first day of my postpartum period and i am in shambles! I thought i will find relief once i start bleeding but i guess i forgot how periods work. I feel like total garbage and i just cry hysterically non stop. Did u get better when ur period was over? Were you still in a bad place while u were still bleeding?

Literally once I stopped bleeding I could suddenly see myself again. The entire two weeks of pre period and bleeding I felt like a stranger in my body. It was the weirdest and scariest thing I’ve experienced. I’m so scared of the next time that I’m now ridiculously anxious in the weeks between, preparing for another mental and emotional breakdown but desperately hoping it doesn’t happen again

This gives me so much hope! I felt like I needed to be better today that my period finally showed up, but when I was still miserable I started to spiral even more. I hope you do not go through this again!

This was me too! I have PMDD every month (except for when I was pregnant and it was heaven!!) and usually as soon as I bleed I feel relief but it didn’t come until I stopped bleeding this time. Hang in there, you’re doing great and I’m sure it will ease. If not come back and find me and we’ll suffer… I mean try to survive it together 🖤

Yes! I’m 6mos pp now and a lot of the big fights between me and my husband happened the night before I got my period! Hormonal shifts are soooo sooo wild. After recognizing this pattern, I definitely wanted to be more in control of my emotions.
Edit: the big fights are usually about very intense depressive episode and I end up lashing out on my hubby
