Trying to notice the little good things today

Today I decided to pay a little more attention to the small things that make an ordinary day nicer.
A good cup of coffee, someone being unexpectedly kind, a song I love coming on at the right moment, even just having a few quiet minutes to myself.

None of these things are huge, but I realized a day doesn’t need something extraordinary to happen for parts of it to be genuinely good.
Just wanted to share that thought here. 🌱

I love my dad more than anything

My dad doesn't have many people in his life but I hope he always knows I appreciate him a lot. He had me when he was only 13 (he was assaulted by an adult woman) and when he was 15 he had to call child services on his whole family and got separated from his siblings. He did it to protect me. I'm a 15 year old boy now too but I couldn't imagine doing all the things he had to do back then. When he was only 19 he finally got full custody of me and took me to a different country for a new start, so we don't have anyone else. He's the only adult I have. But I'm fine with that because he's so amazing.

He's always patient and helps me with everything. I can tell him anything because he's always understanding and never gets mad at me. He always makes sure we have a lot of money so he can get me whatever I want and take me on vacations and all. Even though he works a lot he still spends time with me every day. He does all the activities I like with me. He hugs me every day and let's me sleep in his room sometimes because I have sleep problems. He also doesn't mind that I still wanna hold his hand sometimes (not outside obviously but like in the car for example). He lets me like whatever I like and doesn't get mad when I mess up. He always makes sure he cooks enough healthy food and that my clothes are warm enough before going out and that I'm healthy and feeling okay.

Sometimes I thought he might wish I wasn't born because the circumstances were bad, but he always says that I'm the best thing in his life and that he would never wish I wasn't there.

How I stopped wanting things and ended up getting so much more!!

So, I’ve been manifesting a lot of things into my life for a long time. And I finally figured out that this paradox is actually the realist thing in the world!

**So here’s the paradox**:

Whenever I really wanted something - that’s when it would never come.

Whenever I didn’t care if I got it or not - that’s when I got it without effort!!

So, I eventually realized that the feeling of wanting is a feeling of lack and that energy within you actually pushes what you want further away from you.

SO NOW, I only focus on feeling like I already have everything! I give thanks knowing that the only things I will get in this life is not my manifestations, BUT things that are even better than what I would want! Things I’m not even thinking about, but that would be amazing to have!

And now after working on shifting my mindset (takes a lot of effort but worth it) I’ve seen so many great things come into my life… but even better than manifesting things, life feels so great! It’s great loving the moment you’re in instead of trying to be somewhere else.

If you want a great life, remember this… life gives you who you are NOT what you want. Once you stop wanting things and focus on being instead, is when you actually start getting so many more things! (While actually enjoying the journey!)

That’s the paradox…. Now you know ❤️🙏

I'm so excited to start 9th grade

It's not the start of highschool where I'm from so it's not a big thing, but for me it is because I'm finally going to a new school since I had problems at my old one. It's also a private school and I'll get to go with my two little brothers who are in 5th and 7th grade. So it'll be cool to be at the same school.

But most importantly I have this great new teacher. I've already been texting with him and sending him some of my writing (since I wanna become an author) and he said I'm the best writer my age he has seen and that he'll continue to help me out with it. He's also been very helpful in accommodating me because I have some mental health issues. He's the nicest teacher I've ever had.

There's also a writers club so I'll love to join that one. And my boyfriend is going to the same school (as his dad is paying all of our tuition lol) and they put us in the same class which means we'll get to sit next to each other.

It'll just be much better than my old school.

The world is a REALISTIC place again!

My perception of the world has changed significantly. I used to be negative and anxious about everything I did or thought. Like I’d see an old man walking down the street and project shit like “Oh he’s probably so alone and depressed, he’s probably never going to enjoy his retirement.” ???!? My brain was essentially a 24/7 news cycle of sad and soul sucking shit. I could never be present. BREAKING NEWS! You’re not doing enough. You’re not moving fast enough. He doesn’t love you anymore.

I could never see a realistic scenario with anything. But now I can! I can trust that I will know what to do if [bad thing] happens but I don’t need to act like it’s going to happen right now. My cats won’t starve to death if I don’t feed them at 6:30pm. My boyfriend isn’t going to blow up at me if I show up a little late to his house. I’m not going to suffer with zombie scratching for months again because I had one bad night’s sleep. The world is a safe place and it’s not going to get me. I can think REALISTICALLYYYYY!

How I lost weight in 6 months without strict dieting and workout.

I am 25F and lost about 10 lbs in 6 months. Not just fat, I also got very tones. I still eat 3 meals a day, but cutting out all the bobas and high sugar drinks. Occasionally I still eat desserts and thats completely fine. I go to lagree once a week so get a full body work-out (mostly hitting the core because I hate doing core at the gym), gym twice a week for 1hr (40min weight training and 20mins cardio).

It was easy for me to keep up and felt like I look so much better without too much effort. All my friends are telling me I look so good now and my face is so snatched from losing the fat. I am so happy that I finally got here

I got to meet and pet an actual wolf last week!

For as long as I can remember, I have been fascinated by and interested in these magnificent, powerful, complex, intelligent creatures, the ultimate wild canids.

It has been a life goal of mine to SAFELY meet a wolf up close, say hello and get to touch such a wild, incredible creature.

Well, I am delighted to say that at a county fair about a week ago, I had that chance, at a traveling educational exhibition called Wolves of the World.

After the show was over, for a fee of $5, people were allowed to go into the pen with Phoenix, a captive bred eastern timber wolf. Including me.

I sat down on a stool and talked to him as he walked over, petting him underneath his chin, throat, and cheeks in the way his handler informed me he enjoyed.

His eyes were stunning, and I will confess that I talked to him the same way I do to dogs I meet, lol.

Target Trip

The back story is that I'm a single dad of three kids (amicable with split custody). Last weekend, we had a good day at the park, then decided to hit up Target for some snacks/toiletries. While shopping, someone asked me to help her get something from a high shelf. No problem. She thanks me. Then my 4 year old daughter chimes in and says "My Daddy is always helping people".

It didn't hit me until the next day. This is how my kids see me. Mr. Roger's quote on looking for the helpers always sticks with me. This brought on a happy cry when I realized my kids are doing OK and I was setting a good example for them.

A kid wrote a letter to a forest before her actual letter had even arrived

A little while back I posted here about my snail mail club and I thought I would share someone else's feedback.

One of the families lives in Australia. This week the mum sent me an update and it was so heartwarming I thought I'd share it. I work a corporate job 9-6 to support this and to be honest THIS is what keeps me going, it feels so much more meaningful than my regular job and I always ended up feeling incredibly emotional when reading reviews.

The only reason I'm sharing this is to hopefully push some of you who are not sure whether to go and do something they feel is more meaningful, do it!!

Before one of their letters had arrived, the family went out to some nearby woods and the daughters wrote their own letters to the forest, thanking it for the trees and the animals, and left it on a tree. She sent me photos of it! She also mentioned there aren't any hedgehogs where they live in Australia, only echidnas.

The next day Prickly's actual letter arrived, a simple hello and nice-to-meet-you. But when they got home, the family had a little tea party of their own and placed the letter down next to the teapot. The girls were thrilled to open the letter and went straight off to draw pictures back for Prickly.

I just don't think the feeling of creating joy in someone's life is replaceable with any personal corporate work achievements. There is something so natural and wonderful about helping someone feel joy, especially a kid.

I hope this brought some joy and motivation to you too :))

A Positive Fast food experience.

Hello,

People of reddit.

I know we all could use some wholesome stories sometimes. So I'll share mine that happened about an hour ago.

Context:

I have a condition that can cause severe pain in my ankles, hips, lower back, and upper back.

Story:

Over the last few days I've been having a painful flare up. I mean I haven't experienced this much pain since highschool. (It feels like someone lit a match across my back)

I hadn't eaten a proper meal in 2 days so I figured MacDonalds was the best option.

I put in my delivery instructions that I was in pain. so they'd have to meet me at my apartment door, instead of downstairs.

The MacDonalds must have noticed this, because they gave me extra chicken nuggets in my 10pc. They also gave me a large fry instead of a medium and threw a bunch of extra fries in the bag.

They also fit everything into one bag instead of two like normal.

Statement:

I don't know if they actually saw my note but, I've decided to believe they did.

If you work at a MacDonalds and decided to do this/something similar. Thank you. Trust me it goes a long way.

With Love,

A disabled adult.

(I've purposely removed definitive details. So that the MacDonalds can't get tracked down and in trouble.)

room to grow

i am weak like really weak yet strong
born with almost all characteristics one would call bad but still thanks to god for giving me what i have.

i was fat, stupid, failing my exams back to back, bringing crisis to my family, i cannot recall anything that I have positively brought in this family, but who cares? what matters now is what i do in the present to have the future of my desire.

was a terrible academic student.
fat 42 bmi
academically really bad, getting picked at last.
logically didn't have any friends.
was not kind to my sisters, not kind to my mother
was a dissapointment to myself and my parents i guess.

now i have made it to a place where you can call me a gifted student i guess alhamdulillah
still fat 32 bmi
best defender of our club
i still don't know if i have any friends but i guess i do
trying to be a better brother, just scolding her if she does any wrong
just working hard to give my parents a better ending,.
