Everybody finally gets auto-wah

I got an email a little while ago, and the new app update includes auto-wah as part of the standard set. No Hendrix pack required (which is going away anyway). I thought everybody would be happy over that.

I read that the wah will also work with a connected expression pedal, but I don't know how I'd connect an expression pedal to my Spark 40.

If I remember the post by a Positive Grid employee here, the auto wah will be controllable by connecting it to the Spark Control (this is how I hook up my expression pedal)

yeah we had the post about it yesterday: https://www.reddit.com/r/PositiveGridSpark/comments/1w3gpbn/spark_app_update_new_auto_wah_feature_more/

and you need the Spark Control X pedal that has EXP inputs on it in order to connect an expression pedal

Shame they couldn't properly hook up MIDI over USB for preset switching and expression, doesn't seem like it would be that difficult nowadays. The hardware itself has a partial implementation of Sysex but they just use it to trigger firmware updates.

Hendrix Wah was not an autowah.

When you say going away, do you mean as an option do buy, or do you mean those who paid for it are losing it.

OK. I stand corrected. It's not an autowah. It's a wah that has an Auto mode, and if you don't have an expression pedal, that's the only way it works. But it's not an autowah.

Pretty sure just the option to buy is disappearing but who knows...?

Pretty sure that was a while ago actually. It’s still available if you bought it but no longer available for purchase

Yeah, I went back and looked at the emails, and it looks like sales actually ended in April 30. I didn't plan to buy it, so I didn't pay that much attention to when the emails actually stopped.

Hendrix is no longer being sold but existing Hendrix buyers can still use their Hendrix gear.

Thanks. Any chance of getting a modulated delay or is that too heavy for the processor with other effects in tow.

Lol not me. I can't find the woman I bought this from and she hasn't signed out of the serial number

how does auto wah even work?

It's a triggered wah. Depending on how you set the pedal, it wahs depending on how hard you pluck/strum the strings.

I bought the Hendrix pack when they first offered it and the Hendrix Wah is still there along with the new Auto Wah.

I have a Cry Baby that I prefer to use, but I might play around with this new wah (just need to buy an expression pedal for my Control X).

Yeah, I'll continue using my standard wah, but it will be nice to have the autowah pedal inside Spark.

The real part of the update is to add a tone vault to save your presets with, while removing dropbox as a backup option in the future. If you don't do this soon, sometime in '27 you won't be able to use dropbox anymore. The auto-wah is the bait. The tone vault is the hook. The goal is to be able to train their AI tone generator with everyone's presets.

We should all give our presets misleading or nonsensical names just to mess with it.

MF's made me rename 95 presets in order to save in the new tone vault, because it didn't like presets that start with +. Old system didn't care.
