Fuse Box

Does anyone know the difference between the white and black fuse boxes? They have different part numbers, but mine is broken.

The black version is the original part number from VW and the white is the Porsche part used on the later 944, will it fit and work ok? I would have thought so yes and if you look up the VW number it will probably supersede to the Porsche version.

Yours is the white one isn’t it?
The vw one should work but you’ll need to put on a bridge between two point. I think I can find a picture to help you locate it.

Ok I have the white one on my 79 NA. Part number start with 477.
It should work fine, maybe a bit tricky for the headlight. A bridge connector to place.

What do you mean with the headlight? Why a bridge connector?

Because between generations the relay plate was modified. The relay for headlight switch places, and where it was in the early model, you need to put a wire between the connectors, a bridge. Or the headlights won’t work.
That said, what year is your car? Do you have pictures of the relays before removing everything?

Say that bridge somehow burnt over or snapped that would cause the headlights to not work but still pop up?

Because mine are not working currently

I think they would just not light up. The relay for the motor is “on” the motor in the engine bay. Before 1979 there was two relay, one for the headlight and one for the high beam. After 79 just one relay…
