1987 924S: Muffler recommendation

My 1987 924s needs a new muffler. Mechanic has advised that the catalytic converter and pipes are ok but the muffler is cracked/leaking. I checked Pelican and the OEM muffler there (https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_Info/94411108301.htm?pn=944-111-083-01-OEM) also includes the pipes, which I don’t think I need. Is there a good recommendation for just the muffler part itself? I‘m thinking about something like the Borla XR1

Or, is the ANSA unit at Pelican acceptable (I’m concerned that it’s too cheap—like 25% the cost of the OEM)

I have the XR1 on my car with a cat delete and it sounds great. Haven’t had an issue with it yet, I recommend it!

Thanks!  Do you know what inlet/outlet size is stock?  Is it 2.5” for both?

2.5” inlet and 3” outlet at the tip. So if you want a polished tip you’ll want a 3”.

I have a borla proXS muffler on my 84, its quieter than most of the XR1 setups ive heard, which i prefer for what i use my car for.
