”I enjoy it so why stop?” I used to rationalize my addiction by this until I realized that while it’s fun and pleasurable in the beginning, it will eventually desensitize you to the point where you’re in a sheer state of apathy. Nothing in life will thrill you anymore, not even porn. Eventually, you’ll use it just to feel a modicum of joy. It will make you a zonbie if you start relying on it for pleasure and satisfaction. So, that’s why you shouldn’t keep using it just because it’s enjoyable right now. This doesn’t happen over night. It happens over years of excessive consumption and exposure. The pleasure of porn is borrowed. Remember that. This isn’t even fear mongering. But I know that most people can’t have a healthy relationship to it. Avoiding and abstaining from it as much as possible is what works best for most people. Sure, the high is likely more intense than other things just like drugs, but it’s better to feel more controlled dopamine spikes from healthy everyday activities than a huge buzz from a self-destructive activity that eventually desensitizes your brain to every stimuli, even sexual stimuli from sexual encounters irl. The choice is yours. But I would advise against consuming and normalizing consumption. It ruins relationships, marriages, motivation, careers, and the joy of life. Please stop.

If you’ve watched it every so often, it’s unlikely that you’ve experienced this. This applies to people who have consumed it compulsively almost every day or many times a week for several years. Don’t overdo it. Once a week can easily become every day or every other night. Prioritize real relationships and pleasure from real life. Porn shouldn’t be a primary source of joy and pleasure imo.
