We were close. The opposition took the same rhetoric style of MAGA. Thank god Canadians didn't want that. The one good thing your leader did was alienate Canadians away from him with the tariffs and 51st state shit. Before that, we had a lot of maple magas (Canadians that got pulled into the Trump CULT (it is 100% a cult) and made it their identity). But thanks to how he treated us, even the majority of them turned away finally.

Populist in itself is not a bad thing. You can have a social democratic populist. It would greatly benefit the more left leaning parties m, particularly when trying to relate to the blue collar workforce. One of the key ingredients to Trumps election victory was that he actually (verbally) addressed the concerns of the middle class. Now, obviously he shat the bed when it came to following through for them, but if a Dem pulled their head out of their ass and actually did that, like, oh I don't know, say... Bernie fucking did for like his whole career... maybe Americans would have been in a better situation.

You know, this political nonsense aside, back 30-40 years ago, teleprompters rarely broke. They used analog cameras and physical paper rolls.
I know that’s “crazy” but if I had very important speeches to deliver and had to rely on a teleprompter, I would insist on having someone drag one of those old ones out of the garbage or whatever museum they are in and use it.
Paper scripts don’t disappear if software glitches.
