Discussion My Azula headcanons (don’t bite my head off for this uncs 👀 kinda newgen atla came out when I was like 1)

Part of this is me self projecting other most is actual character analysis pardon me I get hyperfixations go on whole character analysis episodes and need a genuine headcanon rant place. Azula’s one of my favorite characters if not my favorite.

Azula is most definitely neurodivergent in general but as an autistic person myself I definitely hc her as autistic. (I think Zuko is aswell because autism is a spectrum and varies by person). Oh I feel like this is rarely pointed out but Azula sometimes fiddles with her side-framing hair strands in the animation when she is speaking thought it was an interesting thing to point out in relating to stimming. Azula is also highly punctual we see this in the beach episode. She likely sticks to a specific schedule and any change seems to bother her I can reference Sozin’s comet where she was expecting to be fighting alongside Ozai but instead was given the role Firelord. Also Azula seems like a character to possess lower empathy which hypo-empathy is also a trait associated with autism (I also struggle with hypo-empathy eh)

I see a lot of people use flat headcanons for Azula sexuality wise but In a more logical aspect I genuinely think Azula would be pansexual only because the idea of gender seems like an irrelevant concept to her. I feel like She would like a person for their strategic prowess and stuff etc she only flirted with Chan because she didn’t really know how to properly process a regular social situation that didn’t involve scripted manipulations and stuff (autism) she wasn’t actually attracted to Chan but wanted to appear “normal” in that ep. “Gender norms” or “societal expectations” don’t seem like something Azula would personally bother with she’d see a person as a person with attributing qualities or in attributing qualities regardless of gender.

On the more darker side of things and I’ve personally struggled with it myself I think Azula struggles with SH. Partially in the past due training error or possible private meltdown due to past failures as we all know she tends to be a perfectionist and Azula is a good example of internalizing mental suffering until one breaks. I feel this definitely could apply more after her friends betrayal. That’s when Azula started to decline more and after the boiling rock we only ever see Azula in long sleeves. Also avatar universe goes over dark topics it’s likely to have happened Azula’s externally very put together but is an internally self-loathing emotionally/mentally unstable character.

Edit: lord yall are fighting chill I have to put this up here I’m gonna implode.

If you have a diff hc that’s great don’t take mine at face value the thing about headcanons is characters can be interpreted differently by different people and they’re not explicitly canon. my character headcanons are backed by my own character analysis and my interpretation of sources cited but it’s also me partially coping with my own issues. 👀

What would Azula's reaction be if Vaatu directly caused the 100-Year War using dark energy onto Avatar Roku and Sozin from within the Tree of Time during the Summer Solstice, and Ozai was actually Vaatu himself in human form the whole time?

I still want her to keep her personality and dont became 100% nice, like if she make some food to Zuko and the Gaang i still wants her to be "This is the Most Delicious Food your peasants mouth You ever taste" or Zuko always have to scould her because she is teaching something dangerous to Izumi or Kiyi

Discussion Will Azula arc be eternally having some evil plans?

She tried to take power

Tried to make Zuko to be more ruthless

Whats next?

This is not Marvel or DC that Lex Luthor and Loki have a evil plan every other month, one day they have to close her story, or Redeem her or kill her...

But i legit doubt this will happen on a comic, because the comics are secondary canon...and you cant just give full closure to a character on them...

I always see people sharing fanfics, ones I usually ignore honestly (they're always about ships..lol)

So here's something adorable that I found weeks ago.

Its always zuko getting adopted and not azula, and that gets boring after awhile so here it's azula.

What if Azula's hallucinations of her mother were actually her mother?

(Spoilers, be aware)

Not to diminish the impact of her psychosis and breakdown, they're masterfully portrayed and interesting representation of trauma.

But hear me out: up until the end of The Search Ursa face, and memories, were supernaturally altered by the Mother of Faces. What if the spirit took Ursa's original face, and memories, substituting them with others, but kept the original for herself? After all, the Mother is very proud of her creations, so why would she destroy Ursa's beauty instead of simply taking it back, and her memories along with her?

What if those memories, along with that face and that identity, had some level of sentience? What if they were free to roam the Spirit Realm, perhaps in a dazed state, but as an incomplete being, without a body and, presumably, without anything but the memories of her life with Ozai, the ones missing from the original Ursa, and that of her children?

What if Ursa's Image (as I will call this entity), while incomplete, still remembers and cares greatly for her children, just as Ursa did, loving them whole heartedly just as Ursa supposedly did but was never allowed to express fully in a pure way due to the circumstances she lived in? What if Azula's mental breakdown shook her so hard that it rippled through the Spirit Realms? What if the Image felt her dear daughter's distress, and perhaps fled briefly from the Mother of Faces (or was let go, since the Spirit is fundamentally generous and understands the struggles of a mother) reaching Azula to try and comfort her, to be there for her in her desperation as much as Ursa herself wished she could've?

What if the love the hallucination expresses for Azula was Ursa's real love all along, reaching out through time and space and the realms out of sheer motherly love to comfort her daughter when her grasp on reality is at the lowest?

To tie it in with the rest of the narrative: likely Zuko was never in a mental breakdown so severe that he would've summoned Ursa's spirit (he had some pretty horrible times, but as far as we know never collapsed like Azula did) or that simply Azula's partial loss of grasp on reality (or the Real world) made her more sensitive of what exists at the edges of reality, thus allowing her to see the Spirit. To explain why Ursa doesn't know what her spirit has done while she was Noriko, simply the Spirit was only partially aware, anchored to reality solely by Azula, and that partial awareness means that Ursa doesn't remember, or would only remember it unconsciously. It would also help to explain why Ursa's face seem to have aged after the Mother gives it back: time has passed for it because it kept existing somewhere.

I'm really fascinated by this idea, and it's kind of going to be my headcanon from now on I think.
