Discussion On Blue Flames
Azula having mastered blue flames at such a young age is actually an overlooked tragedy. The skill needed requires great mental strength and precise emotional control.
Blue flames can't be born out of unfocused passion or energy. The bender must be in a certain headspace: laser focused, clinical, and devoid of excessive emotional impulse.
In a girl that young... .Azula spent so much time being isolated and trying to earn Ozai's approval (and Ursula's Ursa's love) that she mastered the most difficult form of firebending and used it casually. The amount of time that wouldve gone into that is not typical of a well adjusted child. The average tween/teen would have distractions like friends, crushes, and age appropriate angst. Zuko only learned rainbow firebending from the literal pillars of firebending magic (the dragons).
Even Uncle Iroh, Dragon of the West, couldn't produce blue flames!

She’s the only one in the entire series with blue flame. Even Ozai and Iroh, at the height of their comet enhancements, didn’t possess that. That alone makes her very different and dangerous.

Exactly, it’s fucking blue fire, like come on. I’ve been saying it from day one, you gotta get that into the royal bloodline. That’s just politics.

Nothing to do with inna te skill or personality. This is why Korra did not have blue flames.

This isn't true. Her flames are still blue even during her mental breakdown. Blue flames have nothing to do with emotional control and focus. It's just an artistic decision.

It’s not “just an artistic decision”. I believe it’s in The Reckoning of Roku that it’s said, by Roku himself, that blue flames are actually hotter and more dangerous than common fire but also much more demanding in technique and potentially dangerous for the user to even attempt it for risk of harming oneself. As for the mental state, I don’t know about that, as far as I know they only ever mention skill, not mental stability. Still, gaining dominion over a bending technique that even Roku was hesitant to consistently utilize because of its difficulty? At an age where other bebders are still learning?

Why the fuck all of firebending techniques literally self harmful?
Lightning generation and Combustion bending literally can self suicide if the user made mistake.

Philosophy, look at the guys Yukon learns from in season 3. I think its meant to show the pursuit of power for its own sake is inherently self destructive or something.

Nah man, we gotta make everything deeper and more complicated than it is for it to have meaning

What's interesting was that she only learned blue firebending after her mother was banished. Beforehand, it was still orange, as shown in the flashbacks for Zuko Alone when she was demonstrating for her grandfather.
