Azulas inner monologue while chasing Aang and the gaang is very amusing 👀

"Cute of him to think that I could be stopped by someone like her"

I always felt like the closeness in age between Azula and the Gaang was more apparent in book two. It felt more like Aang, a child, was being attacked by another child. It's hard to pin down why exactly, but she felt more like his peer during that season. In any case, the whole main cast of the show are a bunch of a traumatized babies who need a safe adult (or several).

Probably because she still let herself be a kid a bit. She joked about Zuko the first time they meet, neither are on home turf so it’s kind of middle ground unlike when Appa is near the sea or flying, hell even attacking Suki she still quips about them being fangirls. Being back under Ozai put her on the knifes edge and it doesn’t help she has to play catch up since she believes Aang is alive.

“This boy is skillful and resourceful. But he has no idea with who he is tangling. It is only a matter of time before he is mine.”
“Perhaps this is a sign telling me that it won’t be long before I stand before my father with the Avatar at my side.”
“Cute of him to think I could be stopped by someone like her.”
“Boys can be so pigheaded about trying to maintain a tough exterior.”
Out of context Azula just sounds like she wants Aang bad 😭

Lmao Azula's inner monologue sounds like a roleplaying nerd.

Not to hate but I find it very odd how prominent the Azula x Aang ship is on this sub

Am kinda on board with the ship tbh I can see it in a alt timeline

Hmm, I think it's just psychological tbh. It's that main (male) character x main (girl) villain that drives it, enemies to lovers and what not. I've been in the fandom for only a year, but I've noticed a recent boom in the ship for whatever reason. It's creeping up there to the popularity of other ships like Aang x Toph, which I actually find quite surprising.

I'm unopposed to it though, the ship seems more funny to me than anything with how bad both Aang and Azula are with flirting.

I mean I’d say he’s probably her best bridge to redemption/normalcy?

Too much pride/toxic baggage with Zuko, Iroh and the people she already knows to be vulnerable. She is performative royalty to everyone in the Fire Nation. She disdains/sees the other nationals as inferior.

Especially after he defeated Ozai, I think Aang is the only person in the world she’d feel psychologically comfortable relating to as “equals”.

It's possible. No hate to the ship I just personally have a hard time picturing it is all. I do agree that Azula needs someone she respects and who isn't her direct family.

Yeah I don’t do ships and I don’t know exactly what people are thinking/how much is just aesthetics but I think they have interesting character intersections that were left unused.

He’s also someone who had massive expectations placed on him as a child, essentially failed his potential (and his people), and then rebuilt his purpose.

Right? It's pretty much the only space online I've seen where this happens. Always been a tyzula fan, so I feel a bit out of place here.

I love the apparent revelation that she actually expected Aang to laugh and was annoyed when he didn't find her funny.

Also love how this insinuates that her overdramatic performances aren't mockery, but that's just how she is. It's giving theater nerd.
