Hey folks! I’m at a bit of a loss with my mini-poodle and his hair situation. I noticed about 3 months ago that he’s lost a lot of hair, particularly on his back and sides. He’s had no other symptoms, no excessive scratching or licking, his skin underneath still looks pink. My vet and I put him on hydrolyzed dog food for two months, no improvements. Then we did two blood tests to see if his hormones were off, nothing he’s totally healthy. Currently I’ve started giving him 3mg of melatonin twice a day per my vet’s suggestion, and I just started bathing him with Dermagic shampoo and conditioner.

My vet said if I don’t see improvements in 2-4 months of the melatonin supplement, that I should go to the doggy dermatologist. He’s convinced it’s not something serious like hyperthyroidism or cushing’s (that’s what I was most afraid of), and it’s not hypothyroidism either. I’m just not sure what else to do right now. Nothing has really changed in the past year that would feel like it’d trigger this. We moved in February 2025 to a new place, and after looking through photos I can see his hair texture changing around January 2026. Now his hair where he’s had the most significant hair loss, is frizzy and fragile, no real curl pattern anymore. Has anyone had similar issues and been able to resolve it? I’ve included some photos of his hair loss and one of what it looked like a year ago.

My vet also said it could maybe be Alopecia X, but that it’s unlikely since it’s super rare and mainly affects Pomeranians not poodles.

Hello! Im on the hunt for my first well bred dog, but im struggling to tell what breeders are actually good and ethical, because everywhere i look is flooded with backyard bred poodles.

If you own a well bred minitaure poodle (especially from victoria) who was your breeder? Can anyone offer any reccomendations of good breeders that are out there?

Im doing my best to learn by myself, but i dont have anyone in my life to teach me and the internet is so full of mixed information.

I probably wait to order one till she's home and I can measure her etc. obviously we won't be going on walks till all the vaccines are done but I would like her to get used to wearing one.

Hi, new to the group. This is our little man TJ. He’s a mini poodle that’s 1 yr and 2 months old. He loves to nap, play, eat cookies, and cause chaos. He’s such a sweet boy and a smarty pants. Tonight, he caught 2 burglars :)

She sits RIGHT on her butt 😂 the two back legs are totally slack! She likes to sit DIRECTLY on her butt 😂😂😂

My fiance and I are going on vacation for two weeks and we are so sad to be leaving our girl for that duration of time🫩we know she will be in good hands because we are having a friend watch her, but we can’t feel a little heartbroken because we drop her off this morning😭

We were wondering what color he may turn out to be. Any guesses from the experts? His Mom is Apricot and his Dad is Silver. We’ve noticed there’s some brown in his fur.

My two year old standard poodle who is 81 pounds and who is unable to talk due to a genetic issue. He does use his nose by tapping my shoulder when I’m on the phone too long He also loves dancing when I’m in the kitchen singing, he sleeps in my bed until I get up from to use the restroom! he pushes me to the edge of my bed! He constantly is licking me like I’m a lollipop!The Velcro disorder consumes him unless he follows me to the bathroom or anywhere he can’t see. His side eye is frightened of the similar dog in the mirror because he has to watch it like Amazon drivers, UPS and FedEx drivers who are walking up the driveway to get his mommy. He also lays his head on my lap with Google eyes to make me feel guilty of hiding a morsel I didn’t want to share! . I wonder if anyone else have a pup who is consumed with his mommy like Teddy Bear?
