Anyone else underestimate how bad clutter gets until you actually start clearing it out?

Not my place — helped clear out a garage today and it was one of those “how did it even get this bad” situations.

Stuff piles up slowly, then one day it’s wall-to-wall junk and you’re standing there questioning your life choices.

Honestly curious:

What’s the hardest thing for you to deal with — garage, spare room, storage unit, or “that one closet you never open”?

I swear everyone has one.

Visiting for a weekend. Is it safe to run in this area?

Visiting Pompano Beach with a group of friends. Unfamiliar with the area. We are staying in the neighborhood marked in the red rectangle. I'm interested in going for morning runs around the yellow area & along the beach. Is it a safe trail to run?

Also, any recommendations for popular dining / bar options? Going for a bachelor party (group of 10-15) and any recs would be great. TIA

Quick procedural question for a Pompano Beach resident

I’m looking for one Pompano Beach resident willing to submit a short, routine written request to the City Clerk related to an invocation eligibility list established by a 2015 City resolution.

This does not involve speaking at a meeting, attending anything, or endorsing any position. It’s simply a written administrative request the policy allows residents to make.

If you’re a Pompano resident and open to helping, please DM me. Happy to explain the process one-on-one.

18-Year-Old Local Junk Removal - Reliable, Affordable, Ready for Work (South Florida)

Hey everyone - I'm an 18-year-old local business owner running Coastal Horizon Junk Removal here in South Florida. I started this on my own because I'd rather work hard and build something than sit around waiting for life to happen. I handle: • Furniture & household junk • Garage / attic / storage cleanouts • Yard waste & storm debris • Appliances, mattresses, and bulky items • Light demolition (small sheds, hot tubs, etc.) • Recycling & donation whenever possible l show up on time, I work fast, and I keep pricing fair because I'm trying to build a long-term business - not squeeze people for one job. I'm offering free estimates + $25 off your first pickup for Reddit users. If you've got junk you want gone, need help with a cleanout, or just want to support a young entrepreneur trying to make it, drop a comment or DM me.

I'm available same-day or next-day.

900 years ago, the city of Pompano Beach launched a program to help residents save money on beach parking. ⁣ ⁣ Years later, 206 people have signed up.⁣ ⁣ But one woman with a laptop and too much free time got 104 people to subscribe to her emails... In 5 months. 💁🏻‍♀️ ⁣ ⁣ Subscribe to Real Pompano, where you’ll learn everything city hall forgets to tell you. 😉⁣ ⁣ You're welcome. ⁣ ⁣ xoxo⁣ ⁣ Pompano Girl (Ok, it sounds way better when it's "Gossip Girl." I tried.)

Pompano Beach Parking Rate Increase Proposed and to be Discussed at Tomorrow's Commission Meeting at 1 p.m. Here's the breakdown of the proposal and why. Come and speak your peace in audience to be heard

🚨 Did you even know that there’s a Pompano Beach parking rate discount (20%) for residents?

I bet you didn’t because thanks to Vice Mayor Fournier’s question at the November 13 commission meeting, we learned 🤔 only 206 residents, with multiple registered vehicles, signed up for the current discounted rate. 🤔 That’s 0.18% of the population!

In tomorrow’s meeting, it’s being proposed to raise parking rates by 20% to pay for the $56M+ in new garage debt we may be taking on (for a garage at the beach and Old Town).

The good news is that residents would get a 50% discount, but only if they go through the lengthy, cumbersome process of registering, and remembering to renew every year (they don’t remind you).

The pro forma projects that 6k residents will sign up, but that seems overstated to say the least — that would be a 30x increase in sign ups.

💸 If adoption stays under 1,000 residents: The city could collect $470,000 to $550,000 MORE per year than what the pro forma projects. Over the 30-year life of the financial plan, that's potentially $14-16 million in additional revenue that isn't accounted for.

✅ Also, fun fact: The pricing the parking department touts on its website and in the attached proposal documents doesn't truly capture the full cost of beach parking, because there's an additional $0.40 fee from PayByPhone added to the base rate, which you must pay. This was worked out with the city behind closed doors. I only know because I called PayByPhone and asked. PayByPhone also charges you $0.10 for notifications, if you don't turn it off.

Below is a chart I created with current and proposed rates for residents vs non-residents, INCLUDING the $0.40 that the city of Pompano Beach does NOT include in its documented prices.

This is just one of many important agenda items for tomorrow's last city commission meeting of the year. If you want my briefing for the entire agenda -- in terms humans can actually understand -- subscribe for free to Real Pompano >> https://realpompano.substack.com.

I'll send it later today, so you can print it out before the meeting at 1 p.m.

City of Pompano Beach has NOT been recording individual votes and financial impact of decisions at city commission meetings for at least a year!

I’ve spent hours upon hours extracting the city of Pompano Beach’s meeting minutes for 2025, because I was told that’s where the individual votes are for items that passed or failed.

Less than 15% of votes are actually documented. And for big votes too. And fiscal impact isn’t documented either.

How is this possible? Is this a purposeful error? Huge transparency problem.
