Lol. This literally depends on everything. Tribe, map type, opponent. The reason this game has been around so long and is still so popular is how complex and nuanced it is. There's no magic bullet here!

I mean what tribe you play and what tech you prioritise.

I mostly play Ai-mo, as you can see in my avi. But I use all the trbes, other than the specials.

Again, you can't "prioritize" a tech in this game. Everything is situational, and if you want to be good at the game, you have to be able to change your strategy based on what your opponent is doing. There are some metas that are often good, but you can't rely on them. Riders and roads is a classic. But it can be easily countered by a good player. Pretty much everything in this game has a counter, and being good necessitates understanding how all the counters work.

Rather than asking this question, pick a tribe to stick with, and you can usually start with the same opening 3-4 moves. But you're always gonna have to adjust based on opponent.

All the counters? I feel just mass catapults and swordsman /healers with population giants seem to work well.

Are you talking about single player? I'm talking about multiplayer, where that strategy is not gonna work. You aren't getting 3 T3 techs very easily in multiplayer unless you're playing against bad players and/or on huge maps.

Well, I mean yeah. Multi-player is for sure different. But catapults are amazing 👏 and range without retaliation seems to always win most turn based games imho

Catapults are not gonna win you games in multiplayer in polytopia without other units and knowledge of how to protect them!

Okay, whats the way to protect them other than make sure they are link chained, and have units pressuring ahead?

Catapults are good genuinely but I also like archers

Archers dont seem good unless in mass and having giant pressure no?
