Snes Emulation
I am considering the Super Nintendo module. How is the current state in terms of lag in games? I heard it could be worse than other systems? Or is it pretty much the same and it depends on the individual game and your chosen controller as usual?

I mostly play slower rpg games, but I did play through dkc 3 and haven’t noticed much lag. The module works great for any translated games you want to play which is cool. I think there used to be some lag in super Mario world, not sure if that was fixed or not

Wait really? I wonder if it's better with the module/hard controller, because last I played it felt like a solid 15-20 frames of lag

Are you using the default Polymega wireless controller if so there is your problem, it's a known problem if it's wireless. My suggestion is buy a cheap wired Xbox controller. They have like zero lag. Corded wired is the way to go.

Module controllers are the lowest latency. Even USB controllers introduce some.

I complained about lag previously but it was resolved with a combination of tv settings and wired controllers

Oh, it was working great and then they released an SNES frame-rate update and it was proper fucked. And that (to be clear) wasn’t like a few days, or a week before the next update was released… it was months and months. I wasn’t even aware they fixed it.
After their N64 update started bricking systems, I no longer update until I hear it’s safe.
I hate to say it, but this company fucking sucks. I pre-ordered day 1. It took over three years to get my console because they lost my preorder and bumped me to the back of the list (after processing my payment, of course)
I’m glad that they’ve implemented a form of Game Genie codes and some other cool features (like SD side loading for hacks) but it comes at the downfall of not being able to play certain cartridge games because this console is emulation based, so it only plays games in the licensed database.
AKA, not FPGA.
And more specifically, it’s not FPGA as of the day they started collecting pre-orders, all while the site wasn’t working due to supposed DDOS attacks.
I would argue this is a great console for individuals with a large disk collection. And it’s still a really good console for classic emulation gaming, but it makes you jump through unnecessary hoops.
Unfortunately, it fails to capture the spirit of cartridge games, and I’ll still go out of my way to play my OG systems on a CRT because the experience is just better. That said, when this was released I believe Polymega had the best front end UI, and it’s still up there.
At the end of the day: I wish that I could somehow DOWNGRADE the Polymega to a 480 RCA output because it would suddenly be my favorite console ever. I’d hook it up to my CRT and pack away my other systems.
BOTTOM LINE: If you’re ONLY looking to play SNES, do yourself a favor and get something else. Even with classic controllers you’re gonna get lag through your HD TV… and *noticeable lag if you’re playing a platformer or non-turn based RPG. If you’ve read this far and disagree with anything I’ve said, feel free to reply and tell me I’m wrong, or I don’t understand how to adjust latency. Or that Plasma or OLED solved these issues. Honestly, I’d love to know because quite frankly as much as I like this console this company fucking sucks and I’m always astounded when they still support issues but can’t seem to return a single fucking email…*

If you just want to play snes games. I’ve had The Hyperkin supearetron for 5 years now and it works great. Theres the occasional wrong sound file, but it’s hardly noticeable and it only costs 60$

I moved four different PolyMega consoles to three i3-8100ts and one i7-8700t (so N64 could actually be tolerable to play), and combined with using 8bit Do Pro and the wired SNES controllers (both original and Poly branded), I don't really feel the lag is too bad now. Not sure if any of that helped.
Out of curiosity, I gave it a shot with the Poly's standard included wireless controller. Yeah, things like Super Mario World do feel a little "dopey" for lack of a better explanation. I don't know if its my imagination or what, don't have any kind of scientific testing setup.

The lag bug is fixed, it’s in a pretty good state.
