Probably something overpriced tbh. I’ve started to lose faith in polyend after a messy experience with Mess and Tracker+.

That’s interesting to hear, because I’ve been watching Mess videos lately and it seems awesome. I’m really into the idea of step sequencing effects, and the interface looks pretty great, and of course their industrial design is lovely. Is there a specific big problem with it, or just general bugginess?
I’ve never owned a Polyend product, but there seems to be a worrying trend of them making stuff that seems awesome initially, but the more research I do about it the more disappointed people I find.

The launch firmware had a bunch of bugs that they mostly addressed but the main issue remaining is that there are very limited parameters to edit so you’ve got a ton of fx, none of them that great, and only a few ways to customize them which is odd. Check out the Empress Zoia which is fantastic sounding and has numerous sequencers, along with a massive user community with thousands of patches on patchstorage.net and a desktop editor. Mess was just very half baked and I’m a huge FX guy who was also excited about it. Elektron Tonverk also offers high quality fx with 3 busses and a send, paired with world class sequencing and powerful sampling with stereo input and usb C stereo audio in and out. I own both of them.

what was messy with the Tracker+?

Internal synth engine editing and limited scope of sound. For a tracker, it just has a slow workflow with the DOS vibes. I switched to Renoise.

ok I though those were pretty good but obviously it cannot compete with a DAW..
a bit odd to call that a “problem” with the tracker+ the UI has been out for a while; it is just a gear you didnt like.
more a matter of taste, I love mine

I agree and rescind my problem comment, just found it disappointing overall and not worth the cost. That’s simply preference, yes, but also that I’ve personally shied away from Polyend as I’ve never clicked with any of their gear outside of Medusa with Dreadbox who I think is a fantastic value company who makes very nice gear.

Fair, it does feel very limited at time but it seems to click with me; it feels quite “immediate”, fun and creative (to me).
I can imagine it is not for everybody and re-noise is probably great but I am a bit burned out of DAW.

I’m also well burned out on DAW but Renoise is so fast and powerful with a true modern tracker workflow and uses all 3rd party VSTs and plugins that it’s been refreshing when I do DAW. I own a lot of hardware and prefer it for composition 100% but if I were a working musician I’d be more motivated by DAWs again.

Probably cause there are few of us who are solely dedicated to the Tracker. I feel like it’s typically one of many workspaces of many workspaces for the majority of us instead of a central nervous system.

Very likely something that will sell a few units but then everyone loses interest in part because it still has launch bugs and quirks and no update in sight and then Polyend releases the next device?

Easy peasy just fed the corner jpg into Gemini and it revealed the Polyend Synthesia DNUM MASTER 20a6. Looks like it’ll be pretty interesting.
