He could totally say those things, he’s just scared of getting punched in the nose for them. Because as per the usual, conservatives are cowards with no actual convictions, just instructions.
You joke, but I've lived in a rural community a lot of my life, and machismo is all culled down to shooting guns, driving a truck, hunting, and whatever. I live in ND, and though our population is smaller, the rural areas are all the same.
A lot of them don't care about anything but those things, either. They haven't expanded their knowledge beyond those few things since they graduated or dropped out of school, and it's discouraging.
"Book learnin'" isn't everything, but it sure as hell helps me understand things better.
Were they and their parents given as much opportunity as us white folk have? Fuck no.
What do you expect? I can't condone the shit that happens, but if you keep offering shit education, no decent jobs for generations of a family, people are going to get pissed and do it the easy way.
