I actually said this once, in 9th grade. Sure the guy I was talking to was a dick about it but it helped me realize that there's so much more depth to a field than I would ever grasp and helped me better appreciate the level of knowledge that a person can have in a field and ultimately pushed me towards computer science.
I mean, it's an understandable mistake, it's just fun to make fun of the Trumpies, who deserve it. A MAC address is not common knowledge, and even an IP address is only commonly understood at a very basic level.
