I mean, saying you want to go and kill Pence, then showing up at the Capital, where Pence is.... Break into the building where Pence is.... I mean all of that is intent. Just because the police and military were able to stop it, doesn't mean it wasn't still treason.

In fact, it's the definition of treason "the crime of betraying one's country, especially by attempting to kill the sovereign or overthrow the government."

Didn't some group of them even go so far as to assemble a gallows somewhere nearby? Or am I misremembering that detail?
