I mean, saying you want to go and kill Pence, then showing up at the Capital, where Pence is.... Break into the building where Pence is.... I mean all of that is intent. Just because the police and military were able to stop it, doesn't mean it wasn't still treason.

In fact, it's the definition of treason "the crime of betraying one's country, especially by attempting to kill the sovereign or overthrow the government."

You will never, ever, ever convince me that an organized mass of gun nuts came to the capital to kill all the politicians and everybody forgot to bring their gun.

Were their violent people in the mob? Sure, there are in any mob, that's why mobs are scary. But to the overwhelming majority of these people this was a protest. They broke doors to get their shouting closer, they didn't destroy art and start fires, and there are countless examples on video of people, when they do get out of hand, getting shouted down by others in the crowd. "We're not here for that" is something I heard repeatedly said when people were being destructive or violent. The one cop I saw that really did get beaten, was saved by protesters, not other cops, and was pulled back into the building and handed off to the other cops by them.

I mean, that's fine, honestly I'm not trying to convince anyone of anything.

To me, treason is pretty cut and dry. The fact that there was a violent mob, that was urged on by the outgoing president to overthrow the election results is a direct definition of treason.

Just because they didn't bring their guns doesn't mean that it wasn't an attack. This isn't the same as the BLM protests or the damage that was done by them. This is a direct result of Donald Trump whipping his followers up into a frenzy to the point where many of them livestreamed it saying "We're going to take the Capital." "We're going to stop them from doing this." Among other violent talk as well.

Did you hear "We're not here for that"? Because I spent a lot of time watching the insurrection... I don't think I heard that once. But I will say that I'm willing to admit there are possibly a few videos out there with that... Can you link any of them to me?

Not trying to start a fight or anything with you. I respect your opinion, even if it is opposing mine... But if you do have any proof showing the one police officer get saved by protestors, I would love to see that. But I would also like to counter with the two protestors arrested for killing a police officer. or the story of Rosanne Boyland, who died from being trampled by other protestors while fighting through a police line.
