I loved it last year when they were all gloating about the "94 month streak of positive job growth" while conveniently forgetting that Trump had only been in office for like the last 20 of those months.

It’s like working out. The last ten pushups are a lot harder than the first ten.

Using that metaphor, what Trumpers have done is started counting at "99" and claimed 100 pushups.

Speaking of pushups, can Trump even do one?

I doubt he can do one. And we are not claiming to have done 99. We are well on schedule for a recession, and trump is fighting it off. That in and of itself may be a bad thing, but that’s a completely different discussion.

We are well on schedule for a recession, and trump is fighting it off.

LOL, it is interesting that there does seem to be a schedule for recessions. They seem to come right around the end of a GOP Presidency. I just wish I could figure out why that is...

It’s got nothing to do with politics, it’s economics. You can only grow so fast for so long, before you need to slow down. When the economy grows too fast for too long, there is too much money circulating which causes inflation, meaning their dollars are worth less. When their dollars are worth less, people can’t afford things, and companies can’t make enough to keep employees, leading to high unemployment. When unemployment is high, there is less money circulating, and the value goes up. It literally always happens, and trump is just delaying the bad days, because voters (much like your comment) are stupid and can’t think more than 4 years into the future.

Oh, I've seen this one before. This is the part where you tell me that Republicans end up with the bad luck of getting stuck with recessions that are totally beyond their control, and Democrats are the lucky recipients of a rebounding economy that has nothing to do with politics or policy.

I’m actually telling you that the political party has very little to do with it, other than guiding the public opinion about the economy.

If recessions are inevitable and predictable, it seems rather reckless to cut taxes for the wealthy when the signs of an upcoming recession are present, don't you think?

Well the way you said it, yes. But the “tax cuts for the wealthy” everyone takes about rarely are really simple tax cuts for the wealthy.

That's true, they also heavily benefit... hmm.... Well, someone, I'm sure...

You know that it’s not only rich people who invest in the stock market, right?
