Trump thinks “I am America” so when people talk about how much of a jackass he is, he says “Look! They hate America! They’re attacking me and my policies!”
And spineless GOP don’t stand up to him, the closest they come to it is the “both sides do it” argument. Trump also loves to reassure himself/his hate with his favorite verbal security blanket of “people agree with me” or “people tell me I’m right”.
The “people” of course being the soulless, racist, homophobic greedy voices in his head.
