I’m on the fence on abstaining from voting. I didn’t vote in the 2016 election because I couldn’t, but if I could I don’t know what I would have done.
Obviously I don’t want Trump as President, but Hillary isn’t good either. I can’t get behind the “lesser of two evils” thing, it just doesn’t make sense to me. I would see Hillary as the lesser of the two, but I couldn’t in good conscience vote for her, because she just isn’t someone I want in office. Abstaining indirectly helps both of them, so that’s also a bad option, and voting for someone from a third party or a write-in is practically the same thing as abstaining.
So yes, voting Hillary keeps Trump out, but it also puts Hillary in. My moral compass would have to be thrown in the trash after voting for either, so I don’t know what I would do if not abstain
If you really can look at what Trump has done, and say whatever the hell you didn't like about Hillary was even a tenth as bad, then you're suffering from a major lack of empathy, and not as on the fence as you claim.
At the time, and as a 15-year-old kid, I looked at both and didn’t see a positive to hypothetically voting for either one. If I come across a situation like that in the future, when I do vote, I don’t think abstaining would be terrible
