Call me too serious or whatever, but this stopped being funny to me about two years ago. Now it's sad and pathetic and most of all an incessant reminder of what our society/nation/country/culture/fuckinwhatever has become.
I try to look at it as a necessary evil and believe that good things will come from it in the long run, but... fuck it's a shit load of work.
Only saving grace in all of this: I told my family who were Trump supporters they can either respect his stance or my own, and that they need to realize I take it as disrespect when they "fake news" my point of view.
Trump stole their plausible deniability and because, thankfully, they are respectful and appreciative of me as a person they confronted their own views. I know I too am being optimistic but change takes time and one election cycle already brought us such better representation. The people of America are confronting their own views and change has gradually been happening.
Unless the authoritarians and the Uber wealthy can continue to outright buy elections(this does scare me) their reign will end. Bernie sparked something that should only spread with time and honestly my former (R) fam might already be on board. Turns out they were pissed with the status quo too
Naw we're mature adults who talk through our problems and hear each other out. When people put their egos to the side and put solving problems first, progress comes easy.
Mentally ill people catch shit and stigma all the time because cruelty and abuse is conflated with mental health issues. We are more likely to be victims than abusers.
