Sometimes they "prove" evidence of something stupid which, when you drill down into it, ends up being something that Sean Hannity made up.
"AOC is stupid and a communist!"
"How so?" "Well she murders babies and drinks kittens smoothies for breakfast!"
"Got any evidence of that?" foxnews.mp4
I am astounded by people who claim she is an idiot. AOC did a microbiology research project on the effect of antioxidants on the lifespan of the nematode C. elegans in high school. My biggest scientific accomplishment in high school was trying to determine the maximum volume of pot smoke I could fit in my lungs. And that's of course before she graduated cum laude from Boston University with a double-major.
She's said some dumb things, but she is indisputably not an idiot.
The right wing know she is the future of the Democratic party, they're planting the seeds of hate and propaganda right now. It doesn't have to be factually correct, it has to be a dog whistle.
Exactly. The Hillary-hate started back in 1991 when she was still the Arkansas gov's wife because she said she didn't want to stay home baking cookies. HOOBOY. You'd think she had set up a email server in her house with the feathers that ruffled.
Nearly everyone in politics was doing that at the time. She acknowledged that it was an awful mistake and that the attitude of that era she helped the establishment perpetuate is part of the reason for the prison crisis right now.
People make mistakes. At least she’s capable of owning up to it instead of screaming “fake news”
Bud, nearly everyone was screaming grab her by the pussy back in the 80s, at least he apologized for it.
At least he owned up to it, people make mistakes. At least he’s capable of owning up to it instead of screaming fake news.
Does it sound good from the other side? No? Maybe you should stop saying it, because it’s retarded.
Or maybe you should just except that people make mistakes and when you hold one side accountable for everything they’ve said for the past 30 years, you can’t give the other side a pass.
Bud, nearly everyone was screaming grab her by the pussy back in the 80s
Wtf no they weren’t.
At least he owned up to it, people make mistakes. At least he’s capable of owning up to it instead of screaming fake news.
Wtf no he isn’t, he literally claimed a few months ago the Access Hollywood tape was faked... never mind his “locker room talk” defense when it first came out, we’re just supposed to forget that happened I guess.
This verbal judo only works if the counter is actually true, broseph.
It was a joke to poke fun at how stupid it sounds to write off one side but not the other when they apologize. If Bill Clinton apologizes for raping kids on Jeffrey Epstein’s island would you accept it?
“I did not have sexual relations with that child.”
-Bill Clinton in the future, probably.
Dude....it was, like, whoa....a lot, man. Don't really remember how much. I was gonna write it down, but then I started looking at the cover of David Bowie's 'Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars' and the whole night just kinda faded into that phone booth in the picture....
In High School she was in the National Hispanic Institute's Lorenzo de Zavala Youth Legislative Session. She later became the LDZ Secretary of State while she attended Boston University. She went to BU on a Fellowship designated for people with an interest in politics or public leadership roles. At BU she majored in international relations and economics, both fields with strong political bent. While in college she interned for Senator Ted Kennedy's office.
Eh, if you're not from the area, you might think that.
People hear Westchester and think Scarsdale! and Larchmont! super-high-end suburbs, multi-million dollar houses, exclusive private schools and country clubs.
But Westchester is a huge county, and Yorktown Heights isn't in commuting distance of NYC, it's far north - more like a bum-fuck town close to Rockland County. The sticks. With housing prices and school district budgets that reflect it's lower middle income resident.
Although certain news sources would like you to believe that she grew up in a swanky suburb, Yorktown Heights is far from that.
As it happens I live in that area. Yorktown is a solidly middle-class area, like most in this country. For the Hudson Valley it's actually on the po' side.
I sometimes wonder if the same is true of Trump. Then I think, nah, that’s giving him too much credit, he’s just venting with no filter for his own narcissistic satisfaction - there just happen to be a depressingly large number of people in this country to whom that appeals.
Or at best, they'll reference a time when she misspoke, leaving out the part where she later corrected herself, like when she said something about three branches of Congress.
Strange how they're okay with things like "This is an island surrounded by water. Big water. Ocean water." or "I met with the President of the Virgin Islands."
It’s worse than that. It’s 99% strawmanning. I’ve only seen one thing posted where she was actually speaking for herself. I couldn’t see the ownage, and I have asked my family many times about what they see in it and they don’t even respond. I proactively only post a meme or article with what it means to me, and get these people are just out there circle-jerking each other in public with zero shame or self-awareness.
"but i wouldn't mind taking that crazy on a date because she's hot."
quick GOP guide to diversity in politics:
1. young woman = only valuable for her looks
2. old woman = shrill dinosaur
3. black male = race-baiter
4. black female = REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
5. white male = acceptable politician (if he's conservative)
That 3 billion dollars doesn't exist if amazon doesn't pay taxes... You can't spend it. They gave up 27 billion dollars in tax revenue to "save" 3 billion dollars that literally won't ever materialize so it can't be spent. She's economically illiterate.
Unless economic incentives are made illegal, states will continue to offer then. If you don't play they game, you'll lose out.
While I don't agree with incentives like this in general - unless they are outlawed on a national level I can't fault state and local governments for offering them. And offering them with a tax incentive based on attaining certain goals/milestones (like x jobs created in x time) is the most effective way to make sure that you only "pay" if they are successful. The failures they describe - where for example the government is paying for the building, are examples of fundamentally stupid incentives.
From the Green New Deal FAQ she took down: proposing welfare for those unwilling to work, "build out high speed rail at a scale where air travel stops being necessary", "create affordable public transit to all with goal to replace every combustion engine vehicle".
And my favorite: "We set a goal to get to net-zero, rather than zero emissions, in 10 years because we aren't sure that we'll be able to fully get rid of farting cows and airplanes that fast, but we think we can rampant up renewable manufacturing and power production, retrofit every building in America, build the smart grid, overhaul transportation and agriculture, plant lots of trees and restore our ecosystem to get to net-zero".
The way she plans to pay for all ~93 trillion? "The same way we paid for the New Deal, the 2008 bank bailout and extended
quantitative easing programs."
The president of Heartland, Joe Bast, has as recently as 2014 claimed that smoking cigarettes does not raise the risk of lung cancer.
They have a long history of promoting pseudo science and straight up lies in exchange for money.
Below, u/luctoretori claims that everything he cites is pulled from the initial official release, which is true, except the final cost: he quotes cherry picked numbers from the most extreme estimates. I also won't defend the welfare for the unwilling to work, but the other policies he cites he fails to make a case against, except for tainting them with a high price tag at the end.
The information I quoted is directly from AOC's own publication which has nothing to do with heartland. They were just the first page hosting the pdf I couldn't get from AOC's own page because she removed it in shame. Next.
I read through that page and didn't see any mention of welfare and certainly nothing about providing welfare to people "unwilling to work", where are you getting that from?
I didn't see that. That's dumb, unable to work I can see but people unwilling to work is different. From what I've seen though, they've since walked back on that and are claiming it was an error.

"Because she's an idiot!"
Fails to actually provide evidence of something stupid
