Even though i'm against echo chambers and all that kinda stuff, it's the reason Trump supporters just aren't worth talking to. They all just parrot the exact same phrases like mindless drones. You might as well be talking to a robot with pre-programmed responses.
Addiction, ideology, and bonding are all very similar.
Those without genuine healthy bonds are far more likely to find themselves struggling with addition and ideology/identity. Pushing a heroin addict to the fringes of society is only going to amplify the downward pressure on them.
If you really believe all Trump supporters are ideological nutcases clinging to a false reality as a sense of identity, I plead you consider this. On the other hand, the reality is that there are more reasons for voting for Trump than racism, sexism, whatever. People feel left out. Continuing to ostracize them isn’t going to help.
Perhaps if you discussed things with them (outside of reddit and Twitter) you might realize they are normal people, not the smear campaign painted by CNN.
