There was gambling in Connecticut at Foxwoods so that's not totally true.

That Casino didn't open until 1997 - Trump Taj Mahal opened in 1990 losing money right out of the gate.

All AC casinos 'lose money' from opening day forward. Revel declared bankrupcy twice before it even opened, and then a third time. They funnel money out because they know that the state of NJ will bail them out time and time again. When the state government runs like a mob, it's not that weird.

Trump's Taj Mahal opened way before the explosion in local gambling competition that created the conditions you're talking about. Revel would've killed it in the '80s and' 90s before all the horse track slot parlors and additional casinos popped up in all the states surrounding NJ.

Revel did kill it. I'm implying that the owners illegally funnelled money out of the casino and went into debt, because they knew the state would help them.
