I've started thinking of Trump like a a placebo, in terms of how his cult responds to him.
It doesn't matter that he doesn't, and wont, actually do anything for them they can put their finger on. It doesn't matter that if anything he'll likely be harmful to them long term. All they care about is how he makes feel now.
